I've found a number too... I think they're neat because they really are a little spike. Brass or bronze. I don't know what they were used for, but I assume used on something that may get wet.

I think that it would make a great wedge to use to tighten hammer, axe, etc handles. Very Cool.

It's Cool & can be used by somebody creative 'with old Dug Stuff" I recall a Cool Bird House one Member made out of dug items . It was def, My style of Bird House.

I keep all the Brass , Spikes , Screws , Nails (Many Square Types) , & other Brass Hardware. JIC

Looks a lot like the wedge that goes in the forearm of old muzzleloader rifles to attach barrel to stock/forearm

Could be, however all I've seen are iron and not tapered. If I had to put money on it, I'd say not gun related.
