Minelab manticore detector information

Every profitable company has the same marketing pattern, from sewing machines to super cars. If you have the means to buy the “latest and greatest” and it makes you happy, why should you feel bad about it?

For some of us, this hobby isn’t just about what we find in the ground. We can be enthusiasts for the brands and products we use to the types of things we hunt for, the places we go and the adventures we have.

That's true, jmaziara, but I thought the point of metal detecting was to find treasure and make money, not hand it over to the metal detector companies every six months! Just my take on it...

Once again each to there own, if you want a category on unlimited funds or rich folks forum then create one, most of us r on a budget unfortunately. Look I hope all you wealthy person buy the latest and greatest stuff and find gold, silver etc. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND MOST PEOPLE CANT AFFORD THINGS JUST BECAUSE ITS THE SO CALLED NEWER VERSION WITH VERY LITTLE INCREMENTAL IMPROVEMENTS. ITS JUST NOT VERY KIND. THANKS

I see where you are coming from and respect that.

Speaking for myself only, I bought my first detector used at a yard sale for $10 and it was garbage but I was hooked. I then got a used Teknetics Patriot and quickly out grew it. My current detector that replaced it is a used Equinox 600. It has paid for itself many times over but I’ve been bumping against some of its limitations. It has been over 5 years since I’ve spent money on a machine and I’m considering the Manticore as a post COVID-19 gift to myself.

Again, speaking for myself only, if Minelab or any other company stopped releasing new products, it would make me nervous to buy into their brand. They may not be for me but they are for someone and that is healthy for the hobby as a whole.

all companies must create new products or they r done, like cars all else, it’s simple usu cosmetic design vs actual performance increment, that’s business, point is 500 more, these air test r fools gold, nothing is found in the air, numbers lie etc. it’s a life long learning hobby

I'm afraid the metal detector industry will come crashing down one day soon. How many times can you dupe people into paying thousands for basically the same thing with slight upgrades? Apple has a similar strategy. They have managed (so far) to dupe people into buying a new iPhone every six months (at a higher price each time), but phones are a necessity for most people these days. No one needs to buy yet another "best" metal detector to maybe find a few more Mercs every year. As P.T. Barnum once said, "There's a sucker born every minute."
GREAT POSTING Tim !!!

I'll probably buy the M-core but not right off. I bought the EQ 800 soon as i could. It opened up old ground again and i love it. But it's a pain the to adjust settings, prone to leak, had to make my own shaft. The latest clip i saw on the M-core navigating the settings is much slicker, MultiIQ+ crossed with Fbs maybe. Anyway it is going to be..... a metal detector😃. Nothing more, but one that has a lot of things i like. If you want to find "treasure" go read a book, please.

Appreciate the honesty, constructive criticism is good, makes products better in long run

For all appearances, the Maticore seems to be Minelab’s desperate attempt to keep up with the XP Deus II.

I think your right. This is a rush to market without hitting the market! Flashlight on a minelab, who'd of thunk that. There gunning for XP and the legend it seems. They are the big dog and want to grab any sales away now just by hype and rep. But it does look like a great unit.

I know the Manticore won’t have it but does any detector have an on-screen clock? That is one feature I’ve wanted for a long time.
