so why will NO dealer come forward and admit this? Why can't dealers add this to any other discount? If this comes from minelab, I should be getting a 30% discount because I've gotten 15-20% on every minelab I've ever ordered before this "discount" came out.

I got the 15% MINELAB discount and free shipping from my dealer.
If Cabela's is only going 5%, I sure hope that their Special Promotions or Dealer Concessions make up for the additional $90 that you would have been discounted if you had the Minelab promoted discount.

manufacturer has never been able to dictate individual price. They have a MAP agreement but that advertising ONLY. Thats why dealers always say to call them for the best price. Minelab cant control what dealer A or dealer B sells for. Hell, there are dealers selling EQXs for large markups right now. I say again, if Minelab is footing the 15% discount, then all vets deserve that discount on top of anything else the local dealer wants to give off.

Well technically we are "suppose" to pay our individual state sales tax voluntarily...(I do ...., yea right..) Amazon opening centers in Florida was the worst thing for us Floridians..They collect the sales tax and the point of sale...

As Minelab stated on their website the discount does not apply with other promotions or dealer concessions. Minelab reimburses the dealers for the discount, dealers have to furnish the proof of the US military service and the sales receipt showing sale price, if there is additional discounts on the detector sale Minelab will not reimburse the dealer for the discount. It IS Minelab that is giving the discount.

Since your saying your dealer already gives you 15-20% off ask your dealer why he want give you the additional Minelab Military discount of 15%.

My 600 arrived yesterday evening from Cabela's. I was able to get it out and run it in my backyard for about 20 mins to give it a whirl. I'm used to a Tejon, so I'll be learning this machine, which I do like already. I live on a battlefield with crazy Virginia soil and have run my Tejon over it countless times, so I'll be testing the Equinox for sure over the coming days to see if and what I may have missed. Now the most difficult part is keeping my wife in the dark about the buy! hahah! Anyone looking for a Tejon in excellent condition

Jason, dealers sign an agreement each year with Minelab for the right to sell their products. A dealer can lose his right to sell if he sells below MAP. The military discount is allowed and partially funded by both the dealer and Minelab.

If you are getting discounts below MAP that are not military, that can be a violation of the dealer agreement.

Typically dealers are not allowed to advertise below retail, but can sell at whatever they want if they don't advertise that price. I have no idea what Minelab's dealer agreement is.

I doubt that Minelab, an Australian for-profit company, is interested in subsidizing the American military; so, if discounts were higher before this military discount was introduced, the answer is that Minelab has found a way to cut back discounts.

Yeah!! The 800 that I ordered from Cabelas on 2/20 in the late afternoon is being delivered tomorrow. I would guess there has been another batch ready to ship.

Jason, We do offer deals on other manufacturers detectors that don't have that type of agreement, but with Minelab, we try to do a nice bundle to help out. Feel free to research my posts. I'm one of the ones following the rules.

I am definitely not going to order from Cabella's. While I m interested in getting my hands on an equinox they tell me they did away with their online military discount. Me on the phone " ok you lost my business I won't be in touch . " I have read the literature on the 600 vs 800 and while there are some compelling features on the 800 vs 600 I am going to be content to get a 600 when I see the right deal in stock and appropriate discounts.

I also pulled the trigger on a 800 yesterday from Cabelas....shows shipped but no tracking info. Cant wait to compare it at the sites that I pounded already with the Deus and E trac.

When it gets here, the AT pro will go for sure and maybe the Etrac... not 100% sure yet till after some testing.
