Anybody remember GIGO ? An early computers acronym = "Garbage In, Garbage Out." IOW, data processing tools will not help you if the necessary information is not in the database and organized for synthesis/retrieval.

I would suggest that, if you want to understand what's what with recognising simpler tool forms, you have some homework to do in order to become familiar with them. (As in anything, absent familiarity, understanding isn't possible).

For anyone seriously wanting to get beyond "arrowheads" and ground stone relics in the realm of artifacts, here are a few Intro 101 articles you can use to get up to speed -- or at least into the ballpark. I highly recommend them.

Traveling Light: http://pleistocenecoalition.com/newsletter/november-december2020.pdf page 2

How the Handaxe was Invented: http://pleistocenecoalition.com/newsletter/july-august2020.pdf page 2

The Invention of Stone Tools: http://pleistocenecoalition.com/newsletter/may-june2020.pdf page 2

Multi-Use Tools: http://pleistocenecoalition.com/newsletter/may-june2020.pdf page 6

You can find a LOT more of interest @ that site, of course.

Very cool of u to post this. Research on my own is great, but even more helpful when others can point u in a direction.

Very interesting, Uniface. Thanks for the recommendation. I read those articles and more in that magazine. I firmly believe that the ancients were as intelligent in their environs as we are in ours. Maybe more! Good stuff.
