Hey hey diggers!
I found this button and despite looking in the obvious places , I didnt find anything to connect it.

Its 22-23 mm in diameter, slightly domed, brass/copper alloy, found at a 1810- 1850( roughly) site

Construction of the button suggests 1830s or so

I've included a shot of the backmark but I'm not 100% on the orientation...the script to me is IU but perhaps that's up to interpretation.
Anyway if this speaks to any of you ( come on UK guys) or you have an angle I can follow I'd really appreciate it.

Where (directionally) was this found. Backmark says “Robinson ……….xx”. There was a Robinson in mass. from 1820s-40s. To me letters on front are “LU”. Don’t see it in Albert’s.
Found in Atlantic Canada
It doesnt look like anything American I've seen before but you never know
