Your button is a US Army "Great Seal" button. The version with a raised rim on the button's edge (like on yours) dates from 1910 through today. However, the one you found can be time-dated by its backmark saying "Rex Products Corp New Rochelle NY." That company was in business in New Rochelle from 1925 to 1945. The branch of the Rex company in New York City continued until 1951, when it partnered with another firm, becoming the Dorset-Rex Company.
