I think I dug a whitworth bullet. Not 100% but a good chance.
I also dug a schenkle fuse. 20210228_073124.jpg20210227_170240.jpg20210227_170232.jpg20210227_111900.jpg

Sure would like to see some cleaned up pictures with measurements. I hope it is a Whitworth.

Get measurements of the bullet. The CW Whitworths did not have a dot in the base. Considering what you found with it, I'll bet it's CW.

I dropped it off at a friends who does reloads.HE is going to get me the measurements. All I have is a tape measure lol.
It is fired so I hope that don't throw the measurements off. If it's not a Wentworth would it be a tower enfield?

I found a couple like that among some minie balls in Va . I didn't throw them out but I didn't look into them I assumed they were post civil war. If theres a chance they're rare keep us posted.

Congrats on CW finds love them hope you got the Whitworth!

What a great great hunt! I think I might have a fired whitworth also but would take some looking to find it. The whole history of the Whitworth is fascinating. The guy invented quiet a few things. Not as many rifles went into service as I thought but the ones that did.. oh my!
