Might have found 24K GOLD today and didn't even know it !

Well early this evening I went out one more time with eagleforce to hunt a local school . We hunted for about 2 hours and I found $12.23 in clad , a token and what I thought was a junk pendent . About a half hour ago I went out to start my tumbler and took out the pendent . I cleaned it up and saw that it had some Asian writing , a rooster on the back and a warrior on the front . The frame is just plated and the item inside is protected by plastic and marked 999 !
Could I have found my third ever 24K gold item ? Here are two pictures of it , you can see the 999 at the bottom of the rooster .
What do you think ?
After work I plan on breaking the little bar out of it and acid test it ! I hope it's GOLD :headbang: . Two gold day doesn't happen often
Update tomorrow !

UPDATE
Got off from work and opened it up ........... FAKE :BangHead:
It was just a hard piece of gold colored plastic inside :laughing7::laughing7::laughing7:
It was fun while it lasted  See pictures

Awesome I hope it is

i would take it to a jewler and have it cleaned and appraised before breaking it.

nice find
The frame is only plated and the only value would be the bar inside . The thing weighs 6.5 grams so I believe that it is a 5 gram bar , or should I say hope it is:laughing7:
Thanks
Glen

Glen, that's a beautiful piece, I hope it turns out to be gold for you buddy :icon_thumright:

Would agree that inside is likely gold. The idea of asking somebody before opening it sounds like a good idea to me.
Great find.....

I agree that 5 gram bar looks like pure .999 fine 24k GOLD........at current gold spot $1,394 per ounce......would be about $224.00 gold melt.....Nice Hit.....

P.S. Wow, that one little find would exceed the clad face value of ALL the coins I have found for 2013 in 62 outings, in my signature line below.....GOOD JOB!!

Odd that they would put 24K solid gold in a costume jewelery bezel and coat it with plastic. I'd take it to a jeweler and get it check out. Let us know the verdict.

Sorry to hear that, but I figured as much based on the rest of the item. The thrill of finding it must have been great and a great story and read here as you re-discovered it and took us on the journey. Hoping your next target is 24K!

Bummer, that's the story of my life. The worst part is what recondigger said, somebody got ripped off. That was probably sold as the real thing to some gullible person.
