Method I used to clean my 2 cent piece

No offense intended and none taken. :)

I seriously doubt lemon juice could have done that to my nickel in the amount of time since you originally posted. LOL

Just a bit of pullage of the leg. No harm no foul AND....I fully intend to try your technique on a few good candidate coins I have. I know all too well that it's all about recognizing the corrosion and the coins that MIGHT lend itself to cleaning.

I wasn't kidding about your 2 center though. A very nice job on a very nice coin! :icon_thumright:
Thanks, Best of luck to ya with your coins. HH

Beautiful coin, I am trying it on a couple bronze foreign coins. I understand your warning, I am doing this under my own free will and I do not hold you accountable for anything if I F up. Thanks

Very nice job coop and thanks for the tips...hope I have similar results on my future cleaning attempts...I have a few IHPs I could try it on, but still waiting on a 2¢'r

Ahhh ok that's the same method I use... It does take time perfecting the method with out damaging the coin or clouding it, there's another method that involves hydrochloric acid and has a higher chance of destroying the coin entirely and has higher chance of pitting if the corrosion is deep, Takes a lot of exact timing and experience.... it's good to know im on the track... :-)

You did a great job man. It's been a long time for me on here. I look daily but stopped posting because of time. I'm gonna try your method and add a few ideas of my own. I put you right next to me in cleaning skills lol. No ignorance intended. It takes alot of practice to get good. Basically you need to find thousands of old coins to practice on. And I know you have found many.

Great job on cleaning the coin.. I just found a two cent pocket spill so I have one I could play with a bit... Just out of curiosity, why the secret about what you are using to darken them? Is it an illegal substance?:dontknow:

To darken Coins , after Cleaning ..

Just stick 'said' coin into a Giant Bud Of KUSH , Then the THC will make it turn brown after 1 week.

Just Kidding Of Course , But hey it's worth a try if you live in CA., CO, or MI.. You Just Never Know. LOL
