Yes thats the next step ladies. Did I tell you that there is another half that size in the woods too?
Trouble is its just too heavy to pick up, alls we can do is roll it..But I have a plan.

Molly.

wonder could you roll it up on the back of a small trailor and haul it that way? Girl lets put our heads togeter! LOL
You got access to a 4-wheeler and a small trailor with ramps thats low to the ground?
Having a winche with a strap on it would be good.

If I brought some pop corn.... could I watch? ;D

um hum...you think us woman cant move a rock? lol......aint no girly girls in here! :nono:

Not true.... I have all the confidence that if 3 women put their heads together, they can move a rock. ::)

Before you all jump on me.... I'm just kidding..... raised 3 daughters to be independent.
Nobodys gonna jump on ya baby, we know you were just kidding. I was kidding too.

Must be something in the drinking water here in NC, all NC guys are sweeties. ::)

Molly.

We managed to break a peice off, took a lump hammer & lots of strength. I'm not kidding nothing else would even dent it let alone break it.
Its a flake, inside the flake is what looks like crystal? it shines in the spot light. Its odd because I say crystal to give you an idea but, its black inside, so the crystals could well be black shinny too..
Time to send it off for testing.
Wish me luck.

Molly.

Btw, I checked it with MD, there's some kind of metal reading there..

Molly.

The colouring is the same, also I believe mine as a large Iron content too, making it too heavy to lift..
Interesting, thankyou for that sweetie.

Molly.

You're very welcome, my dear.

Hey Bill (B|lker) .... scroll down through Molly's link. I'm not sure, but I think there's one there that looks like yours. ... See you tomorrow, if it's not raining.

Molly i hope its a confirmed find.
Let me know if you can get it tested for less than $100.00 :icon_pirat:

I scrolled down and saw what appears to be something like mine rwsnc, thanks for the link.

Molly,

You've sure gotten lots of advice and thoughts on your round "object". I hope the testing confirms you've found you a honest-to-goodness meteorite. !

Speaking of meteorites..

The Leonid meteor shower peaks this year on Nov. 17th and 18th. Bright moonlight could spoil the show, but not necessarily. Researchers who study Comet 55P/Tempel-Tuttle, the source of the Leonids, say Earth is going to pass through one or two of the comet's dusty filaments. Peak rates of 20 to 100 meteors per hour are possible during the early hours of Nov. 17th and again during the waning hours of Nov. 18th. Meteor enthusiasts everywhere should monitor the sky on Nov. 17th and 18th; the hours before local dawn are usually best.

Just to keep you updated, I have sent the 'Rock' off to a specialist. I should have results of testing next month.

Thanks for that RW, not sure I'll be up THAT early but, if I am I'll check it out.

I got up around 3:00 a.m. one year. They're cool, but not worth losing 3 hrs of sleep over.

Hi Molly, I've got a couple questions for you regarding your find here-

Is a magnet is attracted to it?

Also, you say there are "crystals" in it. Can you elaborate on this a little bit? Are they actually crystals or something that looks like a crystal?

Thanks

Hi Pasc, I haven't tested the magnet on it yet. whether it's magnetic or not, doesn't really matter, not all Meteorites are magnetic.
I say crystals because thats what they look like. I'm not expert here, just telling it as I see it.
If there not crystals what could they be then?

Well I'll soon know, just waiting for the results to come back. This is the hard part WAITING. :-\

Molly. :)
