First off ;let me say I did not find this MD wish I did. I did find it in an abandoned storage unit that I bought at auction after the owner stopped paying on the unit. Anyway I have know idea what it is. I put a magnet on it and its not magnetic. On the stamp that's in the corner you can see a crown on it and a T F or E then P or R then S. The center stamp has a 2. It weights 28oz and is about 1/8" thick and 6" x 7". The stamps are about 1 3/4". When I put my Ace 250 over it it says 1 cent or dime so I guess its made of copper. So what could it be? Any value?

Looks like die strikes on a bit of scrap hanging around the mint for a test run...
Then it hit the saltwater for a long time.

How's that for a wild guess?

Yes the crown kinda looks like the first one with out the cross on top with 4 sections. There was some Roman coins with it in the unit. Let me know if you want a pic of them if you think it would help?

Great work pbk and who knows, one of these guys may have rented the storage unit... The wreck site was discovered on Jan. 4, 1987 by spear fishermen Louis Groenwald and Wilfred Chivell, who received official permits to work the site, bringing many salvaged Copper Plates to Capetown's Cultural History Museum for research and conservation

Another comparison: 2 daler coin stamp (left) and the "2" stamp near the center of yours (right):

The 2 daler coin in the link that I posted was auctioned for $1,100 last year.

However, the Standard Catalog of World Coins, 1701-1800 lists many of the early 1700's 2 daler varieties at $225 in Very Good condition.

Some from the late 1600's are very rare, and even those that aren't list for $300, Very Good.

O'ya missed that part when I first read it. Thanks for all your detective work everyone. Going to post the Roman coins on the coin forum to see what they are worth. :)

How much did you pay for the warehouse? I hear abandoning storage units is becoming more common.

I paid $100 for it and it was well worth it. I buy them all the time and you never know what you are going to get!
