It was a cold dreary morning with fog coming in from the south. It was sunrise but no one could tell. I entered the cold, dark surf and proceeded to the longshore trough and, hopefully, treasures. Spent 1 ½ hrs in cold water up to my chest under dreary and foggy skies and I had it. Nothing. I proceeded to meander along the high tide line and about an hour later came across this dental crown. It appears to be made from white gold, although I’ll have to wait to do an acid test when I return home in May. Measuring in at 1.19g, although not much, it is my first “gold” of my new MDing season. Hmmm, come to mention it, I found a cremation tag in the same area a few days ago (see my post from a few days ago – sex, drugs and death, that contained a pic of the cremation tag). I just returned that cremation tag to the Gulf, but I’m keeping the crown. Who knows, might need one sometime!

Found one also at Round Island beach. Could not imagine how it got there. Never even thought of a cremation as the reason. Thanks for sharing that. I took mine in to my dentist to see if they could give me an idea of the age. Not very revealing, said it could have been up to 50 years old.

"Gold Crown" I couldn't click on this fast enough expecting to see a "Crown". You got me! Congratulations on the gold, its more than I've found in a while.

I found 3 of them plus a gold bridge in Tahoe in 2021. I get why people lose rings in the cold water, but why dental work?

I have found a lot of dental crowns. Some silver some gold. Sometimes there melted up blobs. And I have always taken a sling shot and shot them way back into the water off the beach. It was that persons last wish to be there. Dental appliances are just way to personal of an object to keep. Anyway they are not worth that much in money either.
