If I were to buy a Fisher F5 today, would it be the same as the first one? I'm wondering because some people talk about buying other metal detectors and talk about older ones having problems but that is fixed now. How often will they change the electronics so I know I would be getting one with the latest changes ? I know if I buy new it should be up to date, but what if it were used?:icon_scratch:

So as it stands, The Fisher F5 is a good unit that hasn't needed any changes?

The early F series had a few bugs that, in my opinion, are now worked out.
I have an F70 that bangs loud on deep coins. Fishers can be noisy, but are fine machines.
Peace

If my wifes f2 is any indication of the upper level fisher machines....buy it.That dang f2 really, truly, really has impressed the tar outta me.I think I want an f5

I really want to get one. The other day I stopped at a family members house that lives in Peshtigo Wi. She lives in an area that is part of Peshtigo that was there before the fire of 1871. I went over her yard and found about 1.30 in change. I didn't find any change that was old? I went back over the same area a week later and found 1.80 and got some wheats dating back to 1928. I also found 2 44mag bullets about 5" down. The weather conditions were the same. I am using a bounty hunter 2. I got it around 7 years ago. I do find coins but when I go over an area that I already checked and find more then the first time, I have to wonder about the machine. I enjoy going out but not sure that I need to redo an area multiple times in such a short time. I understand that the frost moves things every spring so every year is like starting over. I'm sure my machine most likely had some updates done to it. I'm ready for a better machine and waiting to buy a new F5 or maybe a used one if it were a great deal. I do wonder about the used part because I would lose the 5 year warranty. Also with my luck I might get screwed and buy one that has issues.
