metal detecting service

With a few searches I only see two websites (lostmystuff and theringfinder) that offer detecting services, one free and one fee for service. Why is there not a lot more? Am I not looking in the correct spot? I'm a total newbie so maybe I'm missing something. I would think every major city would have a group of finders, free or not. I expected tons of sites, but was wrong. It seem this would open the doors for a lot more hunts. Just some thoughts ...

A lot is done local, through word of mouth and club connections. I also see Craig's list being used to post finder services.
