Hey everyone. I'm a newbie to this site and have been detecting for about 3 years. I went out to search around my great grandfather's property he purchased back in the late 30s. Didnt find anything valuable but I found some interesting things and I'm not sure if it was his or maybe the previous owner. First i found two axe heads about 6" deep. Looks to be Hoosier style axe head? One is in rough shape but the other I'm going to restore. Knocked off the chunks of rust and got down to the pitted iron. The other thing I found was old walk behind plow about 8" deep. I've gotten a lot of rust off of it but dont see a manufacturer marking. The axe heads look very old like late 1800s early 1900s? And look as if made by blacksmith because of imperfections. What do you think? Also I know my great grandfather used a tractor so not sure if the plow was before his time there? I've read that some plows were also made at local blacksmiths and wont have a manufacturer mark on it? Thank you, Jeff

1st - I noticed this was your very first post - so, Welcome Aboard Hogtown Hunter! Take a look at Forum: Florida for information (i.e., clubs, etc.) directly related to your state.

3rd - I moved ya from METAL DETECTING over to TODAY'S FINDS! for more exposure.

Congrats and welcome from SC!

Looks like some nice relics. Welcome to Treasurenet from Illinois.

Maybe it just the angle of the photo, but, I'm not seeing a hole through those "heads". Maybe instead they're splitting wedges?

First, thanks for the welcome. Hope to learn some from you guys and girls and maybe post a nice find every now and then. I was on a Fishing Forum for years. While there were a few good people on there lots of them seemed to get thier jollies by mocking and posting negative posts to the more inexperienced anglers. After reading posts on here everyone seems so helpful. I should have posted different angle of axe heads. As you can see one is bent pretty bad. Like they used it as a wedge. Hoping I can grind the other one down and polish up. Then find a nice handle to put on it.

Nice finds. Even cooler to know they are found on your family property with roots way back. Congrats!

Nice old axe heads looks like you have a great place to hunt.welcome also. Tommy

Congrats on the axe heads, and welcome to Tnet! Looks to me one axe was used as a splitter as well. Hope to see more of your posts, Hogtown Hunter!

Greetings, HH! Looks like a cultivator shank there. When you run over a farm, be prepared for a lot of old iron! Good luck!

Nice finds, especially from a family property. They both look like they've been used as wedges by the damage. Dieselfool is right! Expect lots of iron, but that's cool too!

Welcome aboard and Congrats on the cool finds- great name BTW...

Got the one axe head grinded down and managed to get it on a handle. Now I just need to have engraved.

Welcome from Northern Virginia :skullflag: I think it is super cool to be able to detect family property as it is just a matter of time before you may find something that links back to your great grandfather, good luck!
