Metal Detecting and Unexploded Ordnance (UXOs)

From what I can see it looks like a projectile with folding fins on the back. Measurements and markings could narrow it down better.
 

It also looks to be OD green in color. The US ordnance color code system says OD green is mostly used for high explosive type ordnance.
 

2 inch mortar bursting smoke round, they are full of white phosphorous, so it goes back in the ground the area flagged for the UXO team to pick up
 

So that means it was originally either grey or sea foam green. Should also have a burster adapter on the fuse well. May have red markings.
 

It's Canadian they used 2 and 3 inch mortars into the 60's I believe before they started using 60 an 81mm , it woulda have had a red and white stripe. The finish was long gone when I dug it up, that area stopped being used for mortar practice in 42
