Merry Christmas everyone

Just kidding! :D
You going to self publish? To be honest, I don't think books of poetry sell very well. But who knows? Maybe in Mexico you would find an untapped market.

I really don't have the funds to self publish HP...And I know that books of poetry do not sell very well...Poets are a dime a dozen...And most of them who post online are probably computer generated gibberish...lol...

And as for an untapped market in Mexico...I doubt I would want to compose a book of poetry in Spanish...Though I do have a few poems in said language...I doubt there is a market for my poetry there...Who knows???I was just thinking about making a trip down there to clear my mind of a lot of garbage that is cluttering it up at this time...I was thinking I could spend some time searching for some of the lost mines that are down there...IF I could only find one I wouldn't have to worry about trying to publish any of my poetry...lol

Then again I could wait until the weather warms and make my way to Reno...I guess that we'll just have to wait and see how things pan out...

I should have mentioned...In this digital age...Everyone and their mother believes that they are a poet or poetess...Yet, I personally have found very few of them to be credible poets...And as for great poets...Throughout history there have been very few great poets...lol...And of most of them...I find most of them to be minor poets at best...From the first poem I have posted online I have always claimed that the proof is in the pudding...I believe that I am a prolific unpublished poet...I too believe that I am the G.O.A.T., but only those who read poetry can decide IF my claims are credible...hehehe

Who knows IF I may become a published poet...I guess that we will just have to wait and see...I also believe that I do not have to prove any of my claims to anyone...

I hope that all of you have a grate New Year...I just may make it down South someday...Only time will tell...

I like this.

Dover Beach by Matthew Arnold
The sea is calm to-night.
The tide is full, the moon lies fair
Upon the straits; on the French coast the light
Gleams and is gone; the cliffs of England stand;
Glimmering and vast, out in the tranquil bay.
Come to the window, sweet is the night-air!
Only, from the long line of spray
Where the sea meets the moon-blanched land,
Listen! you hear the grating roar
Of pebbles which the waves draw back, and fling,
At their return, up the high strand,
Begin, and cease, and then again begin,
With tremulous cadence slow, and bring
The eternal note of sadness in.

Sophocles long ago
Heard it on the A gaean, and it brought
Into his mind the turbid ebb and flow
Of human misery; we
Find also in the sound a thought,
Hearing it by this distant northern sea.

The Sea of Faith
Was once, too, at the full, and round earth's shore
Lay like the folds of a bright girdle furled.
But now I only hear
Its melancholy, long, withdrawing roar,
Retreating, to the breath
Of the night-wind, down the vast edges drear
And naked shingles of the world.

Ah, love, let us be true
To one another! for the world, which seems
To lie before us like a land of dreams,
So various, so beautiful, so new,
Hath really neither joy, nor love, nor light,
Nor certitude, nor peace, nor help for pain;
And we are here as on a darkling plain
Swept with confused alarms of struggle and flight,
Where ignorant armies clash by night.

HBP,
I find the poem interesting, it seems to capture a perspective common among many. It reminds me to look beyond the worldly impacts of man . . . and the emptiness it usually brings, to the other side of the coin so to speak. I kind of like 'the Battle Hymn of the Republic'. I think we have a choice what we look forward to, imho.:icon_thumleft:
Keep your eyes fixed on the prize. The question is, "What is your prize?"

I think we're told to keep our eye on the prize, ecause we all keep losing sight of it :tongue3:
Next thing you know, we're chasing the wrong prize(s) :BangHead:
If it was easy, we wouldn't need to be told. It's kind of like little league, and trying to keep you eye on the ball. That's actually difficult for some adults, let alone little boys :laughing7:

Hope you all have a Merry Christmas :icon_thumright:

Thank you, Merry Christmas!!!

A late reply as i'm not on here much, the pop up ads here are so bad it's like a torrent site (I stay away from those sites).
as a subscriber I thought it would ad free.

I get a bunch of ads when using my phone, but not when using my PC. I don't know if it's the same for others or not?
