At least you managed to get a pic up, now you need to learn how to get a good pic up? Sorry don't get mad, I'm not bashing your thread, I just can't tell what is in that pic? How can you tell it is a ten dollar coin?

Now that's interesting. See if you can get a few pics from different angles so we can see the detail that remains. If you found this at a house site that was littered with square nails, you may be at a burn site. Could be more gold there if this was part of a stash or savings. I would dig it all if that's the case. Nobody threw their gold into a fire ....well unless they were smelting it.

Well different angles are out! I sold it.
I could tell it was a ten dollar cause part of it not melted had "EN D"
Meaning TEN D.ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1419391726.016242.jpg

That 1/2 of a large cent was found about 50 yards away!
If u look close you can see the eagle's foot.

Thats pretty neat!!!

:goldcoin:Nice find, and a quick sell :icon_thumright:
I imagine you get spot for this? Whats best way to sell it?

I keep it a couple months till I found a rifle I couldn't live with out. Now I regret the sell. And only have a few pics. I'm not sure about spot but?

Such horror the things that happened to such a beautiful coin!, lol just messing with you

Congrats on a unique gold

The outside pic was much better, I could see the letters good. If the piece was cleaned and held so it wasn't upside down I might of been able to ID exactly which ten dollar coin it was. That is a shame you sold it, were you that destitute that you needed the little bit of money you got for it? How much could you have really got for that? Sorry, I guess everybody's situations are different, I just know if I had been as lucky as that, I doubt very much I ever would have sold that.
Great find, I'd be sifting at that site, good luck in the future and keep hitting that place hard.

I found a melted gold coin a long time ago hunting where an old dentist office once stoop. They said they used them for fillings.

Would have made a great necklace pendent...if done correctly.

You found it & saved it... that's all that matters! :occasion14:

That is one crazy find. A melted gold coin to boot. Wow.

Suck a shame that a coin was lost, yet such a cool find because it was a melted. Now get back to that site and find us another one!
