I honestly believe the govt needs to be removed. But honestly, I believe the population has been 'dumbed down' by brainwashing. It's just getting worse. Our nation is top heavy with way too much govt. This is not a political thing. It is the reality of why we are a third world country.

Anyway....I am a pirate..lol.

:icon_pirat:

Oh and ive been to plenty of third world countrys. we are NOT a third world country. Maybe you should travel some. and my folk are farmers, so don't complain about the USA with a full mouth.

Sorry if this is overbord. Probably sign off anyway. I've really enjoyd most of the posts here. God bless everyone.

Jahman, those cannons and anchors you saw rotting in the Keys are a shame no doubt. No one is claiming that is a good thing. They were most likely recovered back in the sixties. Commercial shipwreck salvage has evolved since then. You won't see too many more examples of that nowadays.

Most of the companies in business today use responsible and ethical archaeology, and keep a degreed marine archaeologist on retainer.

In all fairness, governments and museums have been guilty of the same thing. There are artifacts disintegrating and turning to dust in drawers in the Smithsonian that have never been viewed by the public and never will-no money to conserve them properly, no interest in researching them, no provenance and the objects were deemed not worthy enough to display.

Attached are some cannons that the City of Ft Pierce raised from the Urca de Lima site, failed to conserve properly (or not at all) and put up for display in a public park.

Re: Mel Fisher: "There's a Shipwreck every 1000 feet".

My point is..the gubment would rather they rot out of sight at the bottom of the ocean. Sure, the deterioration may be slower in the ocean, but they eventually disappear non-the-less. At least SOMEONE sees them displayed!

Not all "old" houses can, or should, be pristinely conserved. However, there are incentives for private citizens to do it. The gubment policy is NO ONE is allowed to either retrieve, much less conserve, these items! If only 10% were properly preserved, that's 10% more than we have now.

Remember, mother nature is slowly and efficiently doing her own thing while the archies exercise their bureaucratic muscles.

That photo titled govt at work with the chunk of black rot says everything... about govt.

Re: Mel Fisher: "There's a Shipwreck every 1000 feet".

yes, i have no doubt that there are wrecks on top of one another, in fact some areas seem to be wreck magnets.

over-regulation of all aspects of our lives, activities, and industries, has already essentially stolen our freedoms. and finally people are waking up to this fact. But i fear it is too late, as you won't ever see the point mentioned in the mainsteam media. as an example... more than a million people went to DC. on Sept. 12 for a tax protest, and there was not one mention of it was on the major networks. it is obviously censorship.

about the pic, the encrusted cannon, was left that way intentionally, so that folks could see what it looked like underwater, if you look in the background of that pic you will see other cannons that were preserved to the best of there ability at that time.

i have been to the Fla. keys as well, and i can say that most of the items displayed outdoors there are from 20th century wrecks. and what you may view as rotting marine debris, others view as fine nautical decor and lanscape accents.

dahman, apparently you have been brainwased by the media into believing all the lies that our... enviroment, oceans, fisheries, water supplies, climate, wildlife, air quality, health or safety, are all in danger of immenent collapse. you need to wake up and do your own research and you will realize that absolutely none of the dire predictions are true. and each one of theses topics is being used to control the population and to take away more of peoples freedoms.

i know from being in the fisheries, the effects those lies can have in stealing away peoples lives and freedom, and there is absolutely not one fishery that is in danger of collapse, and if you even think that you can compare the fisheries to the buffalo then you have a lot to learn, that would be like comparing people who drive a car with people who smoke cigarettes both emit noxious gasses and both should be outlawed. if you take the freedoms from some you take away the freedom of all.

once a freedom is lost it can never be fully regained. ( by Thomas jefferson )
