This interesting find came on a field near some medieval finds of coins and other items from the period 1250 - 1600.
The field is situated on the borders of an old village (chirch from late 12 th. century) in Denmark, Europe.
I think it might be some kind of a clothing clasp. The length is about 6 centimetres.
The speciel thing about the find are those two persons on the clasp, clearly standing close together.
Their dressing seems to be typical medieval or early renaissance.
Does anyone have an idea of usage and a more precise dating of this find.

Thanks.

That is a little different, it seems a little big for a clothes fastener, but looks similar. Also looks more like a strap-end:icon_scratch: But would be on its side... At least 16th C I think...

wow sweet find !!! man that old

Yes, I think 16th - 17th century would be right, CRU :occasion14:
Exactly, I have difficulty believing it would be a strap-end. Would look strange laying down, wouldn´t it?
Maybe for a strap going up - down or diagonal on something?

I'm just not sure, never seen one like it, I think it must be pretty rare!

I know some Saxon/Viking objects would often be up-side-down or on it side, but not seen any Medieval, so....:icon_scratch:

Up date us if you get an ID? ( I think the experts will find it tough, unless others have been documented)

Already some experts have seen pictures of it. And no one till now have seen anything like it.
That´s why I posted it here, hoping that someone might have seen something like it. :dontknow:

That's what I thought, I study most book & the internet all the time, probably see more than most 'experts' & I'm none the wiser. Very cool object, some things are more fun when they are a mystery...

Is there any visible wear on any of the 3 loops?

It looks like a light wear, but not as made by metal, more like made by leather or other softer materials, CRU!

With those size holes, I was already thinking leather. So 'if' you had 3 thin straps, maybe its a horse strap junction, but that 'hook' bothers me, because I've only seen similar on book clasps & not horse related items.:icon_scratch: (although its a strong looking hook, & could take some forces, that a junction would need)

Wow, very unique relic! :icon_thumleft: WTG Keep us updated if you get any more info on it.

Well it looks like you pull it with 3 fingers and pull something.. curtain on a dance stage?
I've found something similar a few months ago but was unsuccessful in ID
