Medallion with strange symbols (solved!)

Here's a link to a picture of a strange medallion found, in of all places, inside a fish in Canada. Only thing stranger - my brother found one just like it the other day on the ground. Any ideas? It's the size of a silver dollar and the reverse has the same symbols around the edge but two different ones in the middle. All four middle symbols are represented among the 8 around the edge.

I think someone must have used that medallion as a 'spoon' type fish lure. The hook probably dissolved (if it was in salt water) or either was pulled a loose. Your brother finding another one on the ground could have been dropped by the same fisherman. Interesting find, and even more interesting was the location, Breezie

It looks modern but I have a question. Was the string on it when it was found in the fish?

Can you post a pic of the medallion found by your brother? Both sides please. Side view may also help.

Several readers contacted ‘The Southern Gazette’ last week identifying the object as a collectible item included when purchasing the retail box version for the online role playing videogame ‘EverQuest: Lost Dungeons of Norrath’ released in 2003.

The medallion, which in this case was attached to a string to form a necklace, was originally part of a keychain that included the ‘EverQuest’ logo.

Apparently the string was still on the medallion when found inside the fish.
