First of all WELCOME to the forum. This is most interesting; could you tell us in what state you found it, and any other information about the location? Breezie

VERY interesting.
Whatever the badge is, it is RARE! I have been searching for a half hour and still no matches.
There is a Military organization U.S.E.C. But they were founded in early 2002

I will look further

U.S.E.C. = United States East Cost?

Here is a reference in Google Books to a B.J. Scally. The era is correct. BTW, Googling B.J. Scally is not a good idea at work... :o :icon_scratch:

http://books.google.ca/books?id=8EP...d=0CBQQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=B.J. Scally&f=false

Good work Romeo . . . and you're right, whenever I googled B.J. Scally last night all sorts of perverted stuff was listed, so I graciously decided not to search anymore for fear of pop-up viruses. I'm glad you were able to find 'da man.' Breezie

I think the USEC around at that time could be the United States Engineering Corps. I saw a reference that it was the predecessor to the US Army Corps of Engineers.

could it be a 1884 united states electorial commision * -Poll watcher badge for the (boston, mass area)---- could be the owners name was B. J. Scally ? -- the actual vote was on nov 4th, 1884---but 4 weeks before (28 days) folks could register to vote --- voter fraud and mudslinging was rampent --it was very bad --- thus the Oct 8 , 1884 date as his EN --entered date of his "joining" to insure proper voting registering / voting -- note oct 8th is 28 days before the nov 4th election in 1884.

Very nice. Just thought i'd pass on this interesting read. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~laredriv/history.htm It just mentions a few dewds with U.S.E.C. after thier names. Here are the names. " In 1850 another
appropriation of $100,000 was made, and Capt. Fuller, U. S. E. C., was placed
in charge of the work".
"Another appropriation was made and confided to Maj. Howells, U. S. E. C." Word of the day Appropriation! Hope this leads to a few clues. I'm getting sleepums. ;D

I don't understand. What does "Scally" have to do with nsfw? I didn't find anything. >:(
so why are you angry? ???

Sorry, that was supposed to be a joke. I'm "disapointed" because I can't find anything perverted when searching for "Scally". True Fact: My first initial is B. My last name is Jaycox. I've heard it all, back in middle school.

I'm throwing in with the people who mention United States Engineering Corps. I'd try contacting the historian of The Army Corps of Engineers. The Red River Parish History convinced me, I can't find a better link than Deftone's.

I'm looking into these characters. Same time period and area. :read2: United States Entomological Commission

The person in question in Deftone's post was Captain Fuller, who oversaw the construction of the Fuller Canal in Louisiana. U.S.E.C. is the Engineer Corps.

Cool find! :coffee2:
