First of, it's not a Buckle , but a Belt Clasp :) The Cricket Theme was very popular during the 19th to early 20th century. There are quite a few on UKFD :icon_thumleft: http://www.ukdfd.co.uk/ukdfddata/showcat.php?cat=178&page=1 If you go through the pages you will find the Cricket theme Clasps :icon_thumleft:

Thank you so much- that database is awesome! I see a lot of those snake S clasps on that site as well! We should have some type of database like that on TreasureNet! That is really great!

I enjoyed looking through all those items and seeing the credit and location it was found- WOW

Re: Medal, Buckle or Pin with a cricket player? Solved- Belt Clasp

Have to go to the source. Contact the webmaster of that site and see what level of headache it is. Imagine compiling all the What is It finds into a database like that? Whew...

Nice condition, I have had a couple but the are all beat up by the plough, yours is a nice example. As SS has IDed it already, I will just narrow the date a little to circa 1890s :icon_thumright:

Amazing! Crusader- if it has any meaning to you, I'd be glad to send it your way. Otherwise I've printed a few threads and put it with my other research paperwork on the items found.

I'll be sure to use the correct term also when talking about buckles and belt clasps. It would help bring me closer to IDing other items like this!

Thanks to all!

As a famous detectorist once said, "One mans buckle is another mans clasp". But wait, I think I must have said that! LOL At any rate it is a nice find. Monty

:help: May I confess my ignorance here and ask what the differences are between a clasp and a buckle? :dontknow:

A clasp hooks on to a hasp (hook & loop arrangement), a buckle stands alone

I have actually spoken to the Webmaster of the site via email, I expressed Treasure nets interest in having a US based site like the UKFD. He said he was willing to help and would clone the UKFD for Treasure Net, as long as there was a dedicated team of people to ID finds.
I passed this imformation on to a Moderater, and have yet to recieve a reply ???
