Here's some really cool information and history about a lot of town names and their origins in Pennsylvania.

I actually learned somethings from this web site, for example: the name Schuylkill is not what you think. If you say it's an Indian name, your wrong. It's a Dutch term meaning "hidden stream". Now that I didn't know and I live in Schuylkill County.

It also mentions the town of Olyphant and a hidden treasure. Another one I didn't know about. Very interesting reading to say the least.

Not too far from my home there is a village named "Gold", Potter Co. Pa. It is located at the head of the Allegheny river. I have always wondered how it got it's name? This is not too far from the "Borie" gold story that has been written about. Could there be a connection here?

Sanatoga (next to Pottstown) is also referred to as its Indian name, Crooked Hill.
