Nice 1920 buff at the park yesterday. I got several clad, and one old Camp Deneen relic, a sling buckle off one of those old Springfields or Krags. Mayo also popped out what looks like a .45 Colt casing, a possible .38 UMC casing, several other bullets/casings along the way. I pulled an old bailing wire loop from a fruit jar through some nasty roots. Just darn thick roots where we were digging.

Question for you Minelab guys. He did not read a zinc at about an inch deep that I popped out w/o much or any nearby trash, so it should not have been masked to him. Any ideas on settings that prevent that? I believe he dug a couple deeper zinc cents.

Nice job, Mayo & LowBatts!

Congrats guys!!!

Thanks again to Lowbatts for picking out the area to hunt!
I got my first ever buffalo/IH nickel, can't see the date in the photo but with a 10X loupe it's a 1920.
You can notice a small section above the buffalo head and shoulder that looks smooth and clean. (In comparison to the rest)
I suspect at one time that part of the coin was not underground and didn't receive as much corrosion.
That's also somewhat visible on the IH side where the date is. I photographed this coin while still wet, in hopes it would help capture the details better but it's pretty corroded. Still, I was happy to get it regardless of condition!
It wasn't very deep when I found it - maybe 4".

I was trying different settings on the Minelab SX than I normally use. I tried Constant for the tone, FE Coins was selected - along with other coins. It was actually almost peaceful listening to one tone instead of the usual caliope of sounds I get.

Also found were the usual bits of wire, can slaw, pull tabs and one lone memorial cent.

Hey Mayo, got a fuel pump and two thermostats, and a radiator cap at the park today. Fuel pump looked like it came off an old GM straight six. Three Dr Pepper cans, circa '60's were together in one spot, some flatware and old gas valves, pocket watch remains and of course clad. Was down at the point on the river today, water is still a tad too high. Lemme know if you can play this week.

Reminds me of that song, "One piece at a time"
Maybe by 2012 there will be enough parts to put together a nice muscle car. As long as it starts with that GM key they found this week.

Hey I can get out tomorrow, Tuesday. And maybe Friday.
If the ground is too cement like, maybe hit the sand lot circuit?
You ever try the Fox river shoreline where it runs under that overpass? That's not too far from the site of that old amusement park?

Under the I-90 bridge, not this time of year. Gonna hit the island there this fall, the beavers do most of the digging for us, but leave trees at all angles there on the ground. Invited Bomber to hit the island/rock garden off Pickerel Point in a couple weeks when I get vac time.

Tomorrow would be alright for the playground route. Hit four of them this morning to the tune of 5+ bucks, a new fishing lure unless someone wants to put that ugly thing back on their ear and some neat toys which I piled all up at the last park I hit for some lucky tot. Lots of quarters came down this weekend at a couple of them.

E-mail me as soon as you wake up, I'll be ready at 6:30 am.

Sure thing buddy, gonna break out the canoe, use it as portable storage when hitting the river shallows.
