my friend was scratching around with a stick and found this one. I'm thinking maybe reworked Dalton? very flat though, not a three face drill. any input whould be greatly appreciated. thanks for looking. found in southeast Arkansas.

Nice color on that one. Ive never seen one like it before so Im no help other than telling you it is a fine looking piece.
 

It's has been changed so much you may never know what it was, but it could have been a Dalton, very good find:thumbsup:
 

Flightline - It definitely could be, but if I was guessing (which I'm about to do) I'd say you're in the right time frame but it's more likely from an early side notch than from a Dalton. Great find regardless, and I think the age is about right either way. Perfect drills are always a cool find.
 

I would be willing to bet money that wasn't a Dalton. It appears to be a side-notched archaic knife (made of heat-altered material) that was completely whittled down.
