Just returned from an archaeology trip to various ruins, some newly discovered sites and other older sites, and thought that I would post some pottery shard surface finds. These are all from new sites that haven’t been excavated in depth yet.

Some came from jungle caves that we explored, a few from the large earthen mounds that lie in the jungles of Guatemala and Belize. You can’t take a step without trampling on the surface finds.

It’s amazing to come upon large structural shaped “hills and rises” that you know have more ruins lying just beneath. Surface finds all around the tree roots, etc. all just waiting for someone to begin a dig and give them a new name.

There’s literally thousands of these lying around. The really unique finds were a bit deeper under some layers where it’s uncovered the beginnings of the first layers of ruins. Very amazing to just pluck these from the dirt. Don’t fret, you too can see the exact ones as we’ve left them for others to see if they dare venture into those areas. It was a truly unique experience.
