Hard to tell from the pic, but the gold appears to be of an exceptionaly high purity which is a good sign as far as authenticity goes. That, and also the fact that you know it's recent history. A really outstanding artifact, a museum piece.

If authentic, one of the best pieces I have seen on TN. Beautiful.

I found this entry in the Necronomicon by Abdul Alhazred:

"In 1874 in an ancient Aztec temple were found pictroglyphs which told of a horrible curse associated with a small gold statue. The statue was encased in a mohagony box with further warnings "Open only in case of Apocalypse". The wall symbols told of the fierce god Quetzelgottalottafeet, whose likeness in mere effigy was enough to tear holes in the fabric of time and space and suck the universe into the great nothingness of nowhere if viewed by more than 250 humans. Understandably, the archeologists were wise to never open the box and look upon the unholy idol within. They did shake the box and it sounded quite heavy.

The box containing the effigy of the fearsom Aztec god Quetzelgottalottafeet was last seen in the 1930's when it was encased in lead, wrapped in barbed wire and bound in a soiled diaper and given to an American pilot (along with a great deal of money and whiskey) who promised to drop it into the Atlantic Ocean over the mid-Atlantic subduction ridge so it would forever be entombed in the abyss and eventually drawn into the earth's molten core, destroying the greatest threat the world has yet known. We can all be thankful for that.

Unfortunately, the pilot was never seen again."

i have one of those its a reproduction of an archeological figure whose original is kept in the gold museum of the bank of the republic,in bogota d.e. these figures reflect an aboriginal culture what lived in the american continent in which have been called pre-columbian times.these pendants are made by columbian goldsmiths and sold to tourists like me on the streets, then if you didnt hide them well enough they were confiscated at the airports cause it was considered an artifact of the country. these figures were found all over columbia basically like grafitti a worshipped thing.

"This item has been handed down through three generations (that we know of) and it was rumored to have belonged to a pilot from Colombia South America. He's about 1" tall."

Wow! A one inch tall pilot from columbia! Boy that plane must have been cramped!

Sorry! Couldnt resist! It does look columbian to me though. A little TOO rough hewn to be authentic I think but Im not a specialist on columbian art.

Not an expert but, this looks like a die-cast repro to me. Probably sold to tourists as a memento. Still a nice item and does appear to be high karat gold from the photos.

Found his pet. Mr. Big Foot Frog.

Tony

And his cousins. They appear to be pre-columbian in the Costa Rica region.
