I did post this find already but that was before I knew what I had and I wanted to give it the proper title and show the most recent pics. I have done 3 separate very slow and gentle cleanings in an attempt to get a bit of detail to come thru. Finally I have been able to get a bit of detail to show on the obverse as you can now see the Indians legs and the arrow. So happy to have found a Mass Copper. Never dreamed that would be my first state copper.
Thanks to all that helped me to solve this mystery. Love TNet for its knowledgeable and helpful folks

Same one bro. Slowly working it with hp and an hp soaked q tip. Honestly didn't think there was much hope but she's really come along quite nicely. Thought it was worth a repost and thank you for your help with id bro

Congrats on your Great save there! Best we can get out here is some crusty large cent from the 1840s usually.

We are lucky to have such history here in the northeast

Nice find. I didn't get my first state copper for about 15 years, and it was a Mass also.

You're a funny man! Going back to treasure island tomorrow for my. 2nd hunt since my first Spanish silver and the gun barrel and seated dime. Hopefully there's something interesting out there waiting. The hunting has been tough lately. No time and grown up sites

Great coin BTW...CONGRATS !!

FIND ONE WITH A TREE ON IT AND BE COMING YOUR WAY !!!

I hear ya--it is very tough going hunting this time of year...and if you do find a place that you can swing the detector without fetching up into under growth...the bugs and heat get you !!!!

Best of luck on your return trip !

I'm lucky in the sense that most of my sites are pretty remote and there's little to no trash. So I mainly use the stock 11" coil. I hunt on 2+ and normally can get my sens up between 88-91. I usually have my disc around 18. I don't like hearing every single piece of everything but I do like knowing when I'm on a concentration of iron.
I recently have been using all metal occasionally at certain sites because it seems to get me about 3" deeper in my test garden. If I hit a good signal I will switch over to disc just to see if the numbers stay the same and to see if I'm even getting a signal. Often times if it's a deep one I don't get much at all where in am I get a great repeatable signal. But I have to be at a pretty clean site to use am or it'll drive me nuts.
I do have a couple of trashy sites that I like the 5" coil at for better target separation. I def recommend a test garden. It taught me that numbers don't mean crap. On a deep target the numbers can jump a lot and it still can be a good target. It also taught me that an occasional grunt in there does not always mean iron which was a mistake I made for quite some time.
I am considering a big NEL coil to egg more depth at a couple specific site but the 11" in AM is pretty ridiculous as far as depth. I was pretty amazed. Beau Ouimette has a couple of good youtube vids about the am. I never used it until a few weeks ago but am convinced that if you can deal with it it's the way to go. If you ever have any questions don't hesitate to ask bud and if you have any tips I'm all ears. Sorry bout the novel :-) Abe

Good luck at the Island, save some stuff for me, I'll have to bring a boat with me when I come up. I'll be in the water hunting all around that island! (of course if you let me)

60 acres brother! Plenty for you and I. You my friend are welcomed at any of my sites. I'm not a site snob when it comes to my buds. I want ALL OF US to find treasure. I actually have tons of great water sites that are untouched. You may never leave :-)
