I did post this find already but that was before I knew what I had and I wanted to give it the proper title and show the most recent pics. I have done 3 separate very slow and gentle cleanings in an attempt to get a bit of detail to come thru. Finally I have been able to get a bit of detail to show on the obverse as you can now see the Indians legs and the arrow. So happy to have found a Mass Copper. Never dreamed that would be my first state copper.
Thanks to all that helped me to solve this mystery. Love TNet for its knowledgeable and helpful folks

Wow that's a nice one! Congrats

Looks good. Glad you got some more detail out of it and got an ID. Love the state coppers.

An outstanding find! A copper close to my heart. My uncle has one, a real sexy one at that......Too bad my cousin gets it someday.

That is the cent and not the half cent, isn't it? Can you see arrows in the left or right talon? I know this is probably your most precious find since it is from your home state. HUGE congrats are in order to you!

Taking it down to my buddy's coin shop tomorrow to go under his microscope. I'm scared to death to screw this thing up but I've slowly been doing what I can and am very surprised at the detail I've been able to bring out. Can't see the arrows yet but hoping under his scope perhaps. I'm actually from Maine but this is certainly one of my best finds. Hoped to find a state copper in my first year but never imagined it would be this one. There just aren't a lot of these around. Maybe it's the super rare one lol and maybe not

Now that thing rocks Abe. That is one of those that will be hard to forget when you think back on your best finds. WOW

I would of broke out my dremel and had that detail shining half hour after I was home, then been in the lake chillaxing. Haaaaaa if I had one that looked like a tree that I had myself all worked up about,I'd clean it with feathers.
Congratulations Abe!

Thank you buddy and thanks for your help man. This thing is showing way more detail than I ever dreamed it would. Just looked at it dry and can see quite a bit. Couldn't see anything dry before tonight.

Looks like arrows are in the left talon.

Yes no retirement but I'm soooooooo happy about the detail that keeps coming out. I thought for sure this thing was gonna be a blank. I'm telling you the older they are the better the quality. I have a 1760 Hibernian that is gorgeous and my 2 1782 2 Reales are incredible.
Next one they'll be in the right talon :-)
Btw I'm digging your nickname and you've done great for just starting out not long ago buddy. Great to have another passionate member. It comes thru in your and CJons posts. Good stuff

Very nice early coin find Ahab! :occasion14:
Congrats on being able to get an I.D. on it too!

I don't need to tell you how frustrating it is to find a large copper and never know what it's age is! :dontknow:

Best of luck to you,
Dave

That's really looking good buddy, congrats.
ZDD
Thanks Dave it's been a VERY slow process. But I never even thought it'd be identifiable so I'm very happy with results

Thanks buddy. You are correct about not being able to identify early coppers. Always left to wonder if it's a rare one. Almost rather not find one........almost :-)
