Everyone knows i marked alot of coins. But in the last 2 weeks i have been seeing coins with chunks missing someone is useing a grinder and making groves in them. Thats not right.
I think there is a difference between marking and defacing. To me, even heavily marked coins could haves marks removed and the coin left usable. Defaced coins are damaged, mutilated, or otherwise physically altered in a way that is permanent. Just my opinion, I'm sure some will agree and others will disagree.
Almost all of the 1971 coins I get from the boxes I order from my bank have a black permanent marker line across the obverse side. I've always wondered why. And it's only the 1971s?
tim, thats better than the marked coins i was getting a couple months ago. Someone actually was taking the time to write a story on the coins. There were comments about t-net on some of them. Some of them were painted with what looked like whiteout on the rims and then said I Heart t-net on them. It was ridiculous , not because they were marked , but because the amount of coins marked in this manner. I would say upwards of 3 K Were marked this way. Tim i recently got a box of halves with about 40 of your painted coins but i found 3 silvers in it including a ben! HH
