A long time ago I proposed a simple map dowsing experiment whereby I would hide a target, provide a map, and see what results people gave. Several folks were interested but I then forgot about it. Recently someone emailed me wanting to do the same, so while they try their skills I thought I would expand the offer to forum denizens.

The target is a plastic container with a 20-ounce silver bar and a 10-ounce gold bar, pictured below. It is currently placed on some land in the attached aerial photo. The photo represents about 25 acres. Right now the ground is frozen and blanketed in snow so I am unable to bury it. Besides the target I've placed, the likelihood of there being any buried treasure in the photo is zero. The only history is some minor timber cutting 100 years ago and deer hunting.

If you are interested, download the aerial and dowse and mark the target. PLEASE ONLY DOWSE ONE LOCATION. Then EMAIL or PM me the results; PLEASE DO NOT POST THE RESULTS IN THE FORUM. The reason for this is that I would like as many truly independent results as possible without anyone getting led by someone else's results. After a week or so I will then post all the results, and perhaps do another round. The target will remain in place for the duration of the experiment.

NOTE TO NON-DOWSERS: If you don't dowse (or map dowse), then I urge you to simply guess the location. Again, email or PM me your guess. This is very valuable in differentiating map dowsing skills from guessing.

If anyone has suggestions for improving the experiment I'm all ears (eyes?). I've never tested map dowsing so I'm making it up as I go. Sorry, there are no prizes, maybe in the future.

I'm in,, have just received a set of new rods and never used them... So will give it a whirl.... Will back it up with my crystal pendulum that i normally use...

Excellent! That must be kind of scary leaving a $26,000 gold bar laying in a field!
Not so much. Hunters are gone, bears are hibernating, and cougars lack opposable thumbs. With all the snow, I can tell you with great certainty I'm the only primate wondering around the area.

The only reason I didn't try, I don't have a copy machine. I can't dowse my phone.
If I did have the pic to Dowse, I would post a guess..

He doesn't want you to post it publicly. If your laptop screen lays back all the way flat you could just dowse the photo. But to do it right, for me it really takes effort. I have to dedicate time. There is a process. Plenty of other things to do. Especially if this guy is unwilling to even write an endorsement, for me to show him that the truth of reality goes far beyond what he imagined. Such wisdom does not come for free. Such pearls should not be cast down for the swine.

Have you ever dowsed a master key/mimic frequency target thru a map?.

I'll test that this summer, the question had just come to mind.. Mimic frequencies dowse solid in connection in this realm, so it must carry thru a map?

In your private message response you said that you would be unwilling to endorse my ability to dowse if I located these two bars in one try, within the enormous search area you provided. That you would need to see "a pattern of success" before you would consider doing such a thing. We won't go in to the how significant such an achievement would be, given the odds.
Yes, a pattern of success would be a significant achievement, whereas a one-off success might be nothing but a lucky guess. That's why I also encourage non-dowsers to simply guess. I've done live testing with dowsers (L-rods and LRLs) using the same 10oz gold bar (or their own choice of target) where the test involved 10 trials with 10 marked locations. I once had a dowser nail it on the first try, but couldn't do it again. No one has ever gotten more than 2 correct hits. So, yeah, I need to see more than one success if you want an endorsement.

Any reasonable person would be forced to conclude that a rate of accuracy, no matter how small, does indeed exist.
True, it is possible to correctly guess the location, and the odds of that would be an acceptable dowsed target accuracy divided by the area of the map. Ferinstance, if I said "a successful dowse must get within 50 feet of the target" then the odds of someone randomly guessing the location in 25 acres is about 0.7%, or 1-in-140. That is, if 140 people simply guessed the location it is somewhat likely one of them will get it. So yes, there is a baseline expected rate of accuracy and it can even be calculated.

The problem with your test is that there is absolutely zero benefit to anyone but you.
Not exactly. It is an opportunity for dowsers to practice with an actual target under blind conditions and see what their results are. And even compare it to other dowsers and, hopefully, some guessers. What would you think if we did, say, three of these experiments and you never got even close, meanwhile someone guessing nailed it on one of the experiments?

You would not even entertain the idea of future collaboration on potential sites. So why would anyone take time out of their day to play these little games with you? Go out there and get your bars out of the snow man. This is just silly.
I've never said anything about "future collaboration on potential sites," but if you're a successful dowser I'm not sure why you would need my collaboration. What would I bring to the table?

I hope you will give this a shot but if you don't want to that's OK by me. The guy who requested I do this has now suggested a slightly different experiment and I will probably post that one here as well.

Carl-NC, is better remove the gold bar and put a cheap metal like copper or iron because gold is a big tentation

Nice experiment man im on i dowse

I will wait the results with emotion :icon_thumleft:

@Map Dowser, the odds you posted don't apply to this experiment. The silver & gold bars are place together at the same location. With an assumed acceptance radius of 50 feet, the odds of guessing are 1-in-140. I never actually specified an acceptance radius because the experiment wasn't intended to be judged as a pass or fail, it was just for demonstrating some general results. There is no downside to joining in.

The reason I placed both bars together is so a person could dowse either one, or dowse them both separately to see if they get the same location. I also has a pure 10-ounce copper bar I could add next time.
