I've only found one IH penny. It has a slick back and some crud on the front. But I could get the date off of it. Congrats on your first one.

Yes, that is a quirk of the Ace 250. I've found 6 IHC's and all of them were found when I was detecting in "jewelry" mode. Not sure why they would ring up differently than Lincoln cents, but they definitely do.

Sometimes they get toasty, that one's not too bad, and yes they do ring in lower than penny on most machines

my one and only IH was several years ago, I was so excited to have found anything that was pre 1900, at the time I gave it to my parents to place in their safe to keep for me... my mother unfortunately, had the beginnings of dementia and who knows where it is now. now I hope to find a replacement so to speak (actually hundreds of them lol). congrats on your find, they are a very cool coin to find
