Re: Makes cents

I'm pretty sure you have a 1797, not 1799. Great oldie regardless!

Re: Makes cents

You know Ironpatch , it does look like a seven over a six

It's too straight to be a nine. An overdate would be cool.

think it could be ...how can I find out?

If you post a good close up picture I'm sure we'd get it sorted out.

Re: Makes cents

Nice 1797! Heck, all of it is great. :hello2:

Keep digging!

P.S.--I have looked through a book or two trying to figure out what that anchor came off of. No luck yet. Is there any possibility that it's British in origin?

Re: Makes cents

Change your title to : "Lucky day" ............Great finds.....you make me jealous.....there's a whole lot more in that area..

keep searching............... :headbang:

Re: Makes cents

CapeMay Diamond, you were far too modest in the title of your post! I was expecting maybe a huge day of zinc and clad, only to find these phenomenal finds! What a day! and to find both a Virginia and a half-cent in there too! The ground was good to these also, and had you been a bit lower on the tide line I can only imagine how they might have looked. Nice going! You might want to give some of the other colonial freaks who are shorter on time a heads-up and change the title! :D :icon_thumleft:

I agree. I too was expecting clad in this post and instead about fell out of my chair! I'm glad I clicked on this topic (I was holding off on it, reading other things, then just happened to click...)

I also think the title needs to be changed. Great finds you made! I'm still having no luck with that anchor.

Re: Makes cents

A day like this deserves a better title, which will lead to many more views and replies. I love the Draped Busts, especially the nice 1797.

I'm looking forward to the return trip.

Re: Makes cents

The only reason I clicked it is because I saw that "johnnyi" responded to it. That usually means something interesting was found.
