Maiden Voyage Early 1900's House - Silver / Relics ***VIDEO***

***I am still having problems uploading pictures here on Tnet.*** I will keep trying over the next few days.

I scored permission to detect an early 1900's house in town on a 1/2 acre lot. These are my finds after about 3 hours. I only detected the front yard so far. I have a lot to cover yet. It was a real treat using my new Garrett Pro Pointer. My detector is a Tesoro Vaquero. I was able to recover some silver and some nice old relics, so I am very happy no one has detected this place before.
Enjoy the video.

Thanks for looking,
-ModernMiner-

Thanks for the replies. I'm hoping I get get some pictures posted up soon. :dontknow: I'm paid up on my Charter membership. :tongue3:

This new property will hopefully produce more. I would love to find a Barber dime or quarter at least. I really discriminated out anything under the pull tab range for this first hunt. I like to do that to see what how old the dates are on the pennies, dimes, and quarters to give me an indication right away if someone has been there before me. Obviously this place looks like it hasn't been hit because of the silver and old wheats still in the front yard. Hopefully there may be a ring or two to be found. Lots of area to cover still. I dug a lot of big pieces of old rusty iron too.
Thanks for looking,

Don't make me have to ride up those mountains and smack you!:tongue3: LOL I'm calling those 2 and tell them you want to form the DST. (Diggin' Sistah's Trio) :laughing7:

Great hunt! I can't wait to see what else you're going to find at that homestead. I agree with Q, I bet that area has never seen a detector.

Here's your comb:

The brass piece looks to be either a lamp finial or a gas lamp key. The cap gun is made by Leslie-Henry.

Way to go :icon_thumright:

Real nice site you have going there, great assortment of finds. I believe the key you found is a gas valve key and the comb is what they call a "hot comb" they would heat it on the stove and use it as a hair straightener. I believe they date back to the late 1800's.

I hope you have a Great 2014

Thanks for the ID's Breezie. You were correct, the key thing is threaded inside.
Sorry, I won't use Dig Fella's detecting terms again. What was I thinking? :BangHead:
Have a great week,

You and Breezie must have been talking to each other. Thanks so much for the ID's. I can't imagine sticking a comb on the stove and then in my hair. I would end up looking like Don King. :tongue3:

Wow...... looks like a fun hunt. Always makes you wonder on a flat button if it was just a random loss in the fields or woods or possibly near a much earlier home site. Enjoyed the vid and congrats on the finds. :icon_thumleft:

D, Like you, I say the Digger's 'pet words' just to be worrisome. Actually, I had a buddy of mine who was new in MD, and he said, 'I don't know if I'm going to learn all the right terms or not.' I said, 'what terms?' He said, the ones the TV Digger guys use. I had to laugh, and then said, 'if you forget everything they say and do on that show, you're ahead of the game!

:)

Thanks TNG. That button has me baffled. :icon_scratch: The tax records show the house being built in the 1920's, but the grandson I met, said it was from the 1800's. I know there has been a lot of add-ons over the years and I can see the original stone pillar foundation in some spots. I would love to score me a coin into the 1800's. Preferably a Barber quarter, they seem to elude me. :laughing7:

LMAO!!! Hilarious. I have no clue how Quindy got those Polaroid shots uploaded? :dontknow::tongue3: He must have rode his mule over to Dman's house and had him upload them. :laughing7:
A day would not be complete without a good Quindy joke.

Thanks JB,
