It has been three or four years since I have owned a Tesoro detector and I have missed the simplicity of a "beep and dig" detector. I have used many Tesoros over the years and I bought a Tejon when they came out, but sold it without really using it. I sold it because of how sensitive it was. I was digging blue jean pocket rivets at 7 plus inches with that first one. I was amazed at these small brass rivets sounded at those depths. I have been lurking waiting for a nice used one to show up and last week I finally found one. Today was clear, calm, but cold in northeast Ohio so I took the new to me Tejon for a trial run. I set the dual disc up to accept nickels and with the altenate disc to hit on zincs and above. For the first two hours I dug plenty of trash before things started clicking. I found out exactly where nickels dropped off on the main disc and I then found three straight nickels. This is always a good thing to be able to do with a Tesoro. I felt confident after finding nickels. I found about thirty coins at this point along with at least double that amount of trash. I was at the main entrance of a school built in the 1920's when I got nickel signal. When I thumbed the main disc, it stayed accepted slightly longer than a nickel. I had a nice smooth signal and I had a feeling that it might be gold. At an honest 8 inches, I saw the glint of a gold ring. It was a woman's class ring. When I cleaned it up it was a 1951 10k ring! The first hunt with the Tejon and gold. I think 2012 is going to be a great year. R.L.
