Machinist? Vice Pins? What?

I'm going through boxes of crap that I saved....I originally thought these went to a jewelers vice, looks like a half chrome ball with a flat top.(I don't know the name) But now I'm not so sure?

Maybe they are machinist tool? Does anyone know what these are? I don't want anyone to put a ton of time in it, just thought maybe some one would see them and say,"Oh ya!! Those are...." It's driving me nuts. And I hate to throw them out until I know what they go to exactly, I may even need them! Not sure what they go to!!

I don't have a vast amount of machine shop experience but I can say that what you have is not a common machine tool, if it is a machine tool.

I think...Your looking at the holder? There is a piece of round lexan? or something that was drilled to hold the tool or part or....whatever they are. I'm still leaning towards jewelers vice pins, but they are different, there are two of one kind and three of the other. I can't find a vice that i have that they fit. So...I have no freakin clue and they may just end back in the mystery box of parts. They also have a hole and a slot on one end. No clue.

Or..Maybe some kind of small lathe dog(?). If not? Maybe I could use them when I need to make a tool. Just hate to do that not knowing what they really go to. I spent hours online looking around. Sometimes I've run into tooling that is kind of rare, or to a certain machine, etc...In the past. So, I hate to get rid of anything. ......I've even pulled out specialty tools before, and find that i'm missing a part...go digging through the box and find one more thing that I had no idea what it went to.
