M-3 GoldenIrishmans Monsoon Mining Thread

ROFLMAO. They were just down the street from us the other day. Stopped to inquire what they were doing but they were very tight lipped. I didn't have the heart to tell them that I'd moved the "Mother Ship" Over to Pierce Ferry and hid it in the waters of Lake Mead. Those monsoon storms make for great cover as the locals didn't hear a thing over the thunder.

I of course kept my hat on so they couldn't see the third eye in the middle of my forehead.

And here is where I give hefty1 "The Finger". After all he DID ask for it!!!!

Snapped a quick pic of "Finger Rock" on the way home from Home Depot with the new Durango cooler. Sorry it's not better quality but it's on max zoom.

Might just be the angle of photo but looks like the "Finger" is pointed right at D.C.?

Too funny Jeff! Is the pair of rocks to the left of the finger called the butt-crack by any chance?

I hadn't even noticed them Kev. Maybe "Plumber Crack Hills" would be a good name for them.

I'd hit 'like' on this but being raised by a master plumber and working in the biz as a young man, I'd be a traitor to my kind :P LOL

We made the meeting and are now both members of the Mohave Prospectors Assoc. Really nice group of people and some of the benefits include... Access to 300 acres worth of claims at any time we desire, use of club detectors for up to a week at a time as well as access to 12v drywashers for up to a week too. We both got new club hats as part of the welcome package, window stickers and maps to all the claims. Meeting had about 50 people and this was a small meeting. I guess a lot of the members are of the "Snow Bird" variety and that the meeting in the cooler months are packed to the gills. I still haven't had time to read through all of the paperwork they gave us because of moving into the new place but it's extensive.

Still on axels but are getting much closer to having two doors and a real bathroom. I installed a Bonaire Durango evaporation cooler yesterday and we let it run all night. When I went into the place to do more unpacking this morning, it was positively arctic in there. With all of the expenses of moving it's going to be a lean month but it's not like we haven't both had those in the past.

Hey Jeff
Since you can't go prospecting right now, thought I would show you what our sluices are begging to look like...

Did you make the meeting? Are you living off axles now?

Good grief, those are some RICH cons

Be careful of those darn swamp coolers...being from Milwaukee, Wis...when I got to phoenix as a job transfer...I rented a mobile home with a swamp cooler,,,
What the Hell is a swamp cooler? Never heard of it? :dontknow: Found out the hard way... as the moisture in that mobile home destroyed all my grandmothers antique wood furniture... the kind with the leather inlay. What a mess!

And....Thanks for the Finger! Brings back some good memories.....

Now be nice guys......

Oh what I could have said to THAT one Hefty!

Well we're slowly getting everything moved into the new digs here. I don't care what anyone says. Moving is a lot harder work than mining! At least with mining I know what I'm doing and how it has to be done. This trying to find places for all the household stuff is a major pain in the a$$. (Where are we going to keep this at? :icon_scratch: )

We decided to take a break from unpacking Friday afternoon and we took a ride out to the closest of the MPA claims to check it out. Looks like a nice area and it's fairly easy to get to. I've been trying to explain the difference between sluicing and drywashing to Janice and why I like using a recirc system better than a drywasher. We found a couple of places where other members had been running their drywashers and grabbed a couple of buckets of the tailings to take home with us. When we got home I ran them through the Le' Trap and sure enough there was some gold in them. Not much, but I did find a couple of small pieces along with some flour that had blown through the drywasher. Like I said, it wasn't much, but it did make my point clear to her.

While out at the claim, I noticed a really good area to set up for camping for extended stays so once it cools down a bit, we're planning on spending a week out there. I'll drag a couple of barrels of water with us so we can set up the recirc system and do some testing in areas that looked rather inviting.

Well the unpacking (and subsequent scratching of the head) continues. We've made two quick trips out to the MPA Griffith claim so far to take a break from this but the current heat wave has kept us here at the homestead. At least we are no longer living on axels as Jeff put it. The 5th wheel camper is out of the yard (good riddance I say) and we're living in the house now. Still have over a dozen totes to figure out homes for their contents and we're running out of room fast. It's starting to look like the shed is going to end up as pure storage and if it won't fit in there, then GoodWill is going to make a major score.

The up side to all of this is that we've decided that since the shed won't have room left for me to build a workshop in it, I get to design and build another "shed" that will house my work area. Going to be a while till I can get it started though because no matter how bad I want it to be done, I'm not going to kill myself in this heat to get it built.

Well we're ALMOST done finding homes for all the stuff that was in the totes. It's been to hot to do much outside unless I head out before sunrise or get as much done as possible after sunset. Good thing I got the flood lights installed in the yard or I'd be doing the build out on the new processing area by braille! I've gotten the work area leveled and shade cloth up in a temp setup as well as a mist system put together. Will be ordering the new pump for the Le`Trap sluice system next week as well as getting the needed lumber to build the overhead cover. Landscaping has also been started with the installation of a retaining wall formed from railroad ties. Still a long way to go with that but at least it's been started.

We did get a couple of cooler days and went out to the MPA Griffith claim and got a half dozen test buckets. Brought them home and ran them only to find exactly zip, zero and nada in them. Not even any flour! Plenty of holes from others working the area but we started our own because we didn't want to dig in someone elses place. I've managed to find 3 out of 4 of the corner markers and have a good idea as to the location of the 4th one. Seems that everyone is digging in the same two areas and leaving the rest of the claim untouched. Going to have to do some testing in other places that no one has worked yet.

Counting the days till the heat breaks so I can get my Irish arse back out in the field full time. This move has put a real crimp in the planed research but it had to be done.

"Well we're ALMOST done"

Famous last words! That "Honey Do" list never gets done. :dontknow:

Jeff, just got back from Montana and cause I had to cut my trip short I didn't have time to stop and say hi. I'm trying to talk the wife into going to Laughlin in the fall so if that comes about I'll be by for sure. Take it easy and stay cool as digg'n season isn't far off.......Rob
