Careful folks. Found an insect bite on my belt line on April 27th/28th and a few days later noticed a small pink ring forming around it. Fast forward until today and its 3 x as large. Started on a 30 day antibiotic treatment today with a booster shot to the butt cheek. Glad I caught it very early. Last week I went to check another site and saw a tick on my pants. Stripped down once I got to the stone drive and found SIX ticks on my pants. Ticks are real bad round here this season.

Ya and now new ticks are carrying another disease. If it's not one thing it's another! Sheeezzz!

Yeah they are crazy bad here too this year. I found three on me last week and decided I'd hunt water for a while but then today...

They are usually just on my clothes but every now and I get them. The problem is I may see 10 just on my shirt. My dog got Lyme last year. 1/3 ticks in my area have it. I Sometimes will put them in a bag with alcohol and give them to the local Audubon that sends them out to a lab for testing for some statistics. Trust me, ticks are one thing I hate to find metal detecting.

That is so crazy you posted this, I wanted to post that same thing this morning... Last night I had a couple of skeeder bites and thought I'd bring up the topic of Lyme...I had a co-worker who got it, real bad like, too. I know I miss out not md'ing the east coast or civil war fields, but at least I don't have to worry too much on tix...ugh, ewwwwww. Ticks suck! (blood)

Once I saw the title I knew I had to say something. I have had Lyme disease now for 10 years. I'm currently in stage four, it attacked my brain, all my joints, my organs and my heart. I have a dual chamber pace maker because the tick that bit me didn't just give me Lyme but two co-infections one being erlichiosis which eats off the lining of your nerves the other is bobesia which is the tick version of malaria so you feel like you have the worst flu in your life all of the time.
I got this when was i was 34 and my doctor didn't know how to treat a tick bite told me not to worry about it so I went way past the point of the pill antibiotic helping me.
I had 5 pic lines put in my arms running to my heart with daily infusions of Christmas tree ball size medicine. After years of it not helping and losing every dime we had on medicine I gave up and decided to lay in bed till I died.
I was talked into fighting back and going to church and finally received blessing from God and my heart got better, I threw away my walker and canes and my doctor told me to get out and walk..i said I hate walking so my wife bought me a Garrett 150 and that's what started this addiction.
I lost my job, I cant work, I take 30 pills.a.day just to handle pain and I know it sounds bad but this is better than before plus by now I should be dead or close to it certainly not out swinging a nokta fors gold, not building professional made metal.detecting tools and not sitting as a vice president of a metal.detecting club..now I laugh if a tick bites me because I just gave it Lyme disease.
So the reason I tell you all this is PLEASE be sure to check for ticks and do not be fooled by the nonsense that you only get Lyme if a red ring shows up thats false yes its a sign but it doesn't always happen. The tests called titer tests are only 15% accurate, the spinal tap test is only 85% accurate. The doctors don't know how to cure this if you go past 30 days of having it. Also even dog ticks can carry it so don't just think deer ticks. People this thing is trying its best to kill me don't let it get into you. Educate yourselves because 99% of doctors don't know their nose from their knees when it comes to this disease.

Wow. Real horror story there. I'm about 2 weeks in so hopefully this doxycycline treatment will knock it out after 30 days. I did go for that test yesterday. Never had any of the symptoms that usually come with lyme but certainly an aggressive round-ring rash. That thing really started growing and getting hot to the touch over the weekend. Also, it was swelling up - like 1/16" to 1/8" raised off the skin. If it aint lyme its something similar.

Oh for sure it is the sign for Lyme disease but I was saying don't count on the ring you have to show you each time your are bit as it only shows up 10% from doctor estimates. Thank God you had the ring show up so you could take care of it.
200,000 new cases are reported yearly but since this disease mimics so many other diseases doctors believe that 2 million cases are likely. Its a big cause for back pain, leg pain, arthritis, migraines, heart problems, organ issues and an infectious disease specialist did a study on 10 cadavers 7 of which had Alzheimer disease and he found that every Alzheimer patient had Lyme disease.
Lyme actually was developed by the nazis during WWII to be used on the Russians, at the end of the war the livestock it was used on on Russia was given to Germany and that country and Russia are ground zero for Lyme. The scientist who created the disease was brought to America after the war and asked to work for the war department at a place called Plum island a huge bio research center. He re-engineered the disease but it got out on the grey field mice they were testing it on and was transferred via fleas and ticks but mainly ticks. The worst case publically known showed up in the 70's which the government is trying to play it off as starting there in Lyme Connecticut which doesn't explain the tens of millions in Germany and Russia that had it before the 70's and why they have it worse than we do.
There's a cure for it in Europe but America wont allow it here just like other cures for things because there's little to no money in it.

I truly hope your doses of dioxicyclin will rid you of the parasite. Just so you know the disease feeds on yeast in your body which yeast feeds on sugar..the idea is if you limit your sugar it helps rid yeast thereby starving the parasite.

Ticks are bad here too, some of the deer are wasting away from so many ticks on them. Have been a explosion of them, stink bugs, brown recluse spiders (dangerous) and other insects. Watch out for them

There's research put out that states if you have just one animal cat or dog you are 30% more likely to get Lyme disease if they are an in and out type animal. We have 6 in and out cats and 2 dogs so we're screwed by those stats. No joke just before I posted I felt something crawling on me and was a dog tick and earlier umm ill just say this I was itching in a manly area and found a nymph lone star deer tick attached.
Itched like crazy but luckily I have a great product called chigg away, it helps with if course chiggers and helps with all types of big bites soon as you put it on the itch goes away.

It's a question why some animals aren't effected by Lyme, as cats and there's a list of others?

30% is a pretty huge % when it comes to stats, applied to flying or driving would make a person wake up quickly and pay attention to what is being said.

The score card in our household this year is dog 3, wife 1, myself 1, so it's now all clothing shook off before coming in, dog brushed off well, shower within 3 hrs of being outdoors, clothes put dryer or washed.

There's nothing more scary than getting that puppy dog tilt of the head from the Dr. when the subject of Lyme comes up.???

One thing that got me furious was having to deal with Indian doctors at our local hospital. As if the language barrier and horrid accent isn't bad enough but to have these doctors who don't know their butt from a hole in the ground about Lyme disease try to tell me its nothing to worry about that its not that bad. I had one female Indian doctor tell me I was being a hypochondriac and that Lyme disease is a myth..i told her to go back to her S..t smelling country and get me a real doctor.

I've had 9 so far this year, the dog 4 that I could find and one of my daughters had 1. They must be super thick this year. Just talking about it makes me feel things crawling on me.

Well I have pulled two more ticks off animals tonight so its high time to get the flea and tick repellent and some bags of Ortho bug killer for the yard
