Yesterday, I paid for an ice cream cone at a fast food chain with an Eisenhower dollar much to my amusement. The young woman at the counter exclaimed: omg it's huge! Then turned to the manager and asked if they could accept it.

I do that all the time. On Friday I visited 10 banks and all I got for my troubles was clad halves and Ikes so yesterday I paid for my McD's breakfast with halves. The kid seemed somewhat in shock (or was that awe?). Then I paid my race fee at Raceway Park with a $20 bill, $10 in Ikes and $10 in Halves. That kid couldn't believe it either. I think he spent more time looking at the coins than he did processing my entry fee and giving me my tech ticket.
