It says "TOWERS WIRE FASTENED". It reads low vdi and has a wire fastend clip on the back. I found about 5 of these within feet of one another at a lumber camp from 1870. Found an 1880 indian head right near them.

Side note: has anyone else stumbled upon what they think is a clothes wash area? Reason I say this is that I found a ton of buttons in one small area and got to thinking that maybe they washed or repaired clothes in that area. I suppose it could also be an outhouse as well because buttons may fall off when they did their business.

Thanks,
Ian

That is interesting. My buddy tells me the camp was gone by 1890, so maybe either some straglers stayed behind after the lumber was gone. Hmm more research is necessary.

I have a whole case full of buttons that came from an old house tear down. They were all found in about a i square ft area.I believe there was a jar of buttons in the house and that is where it got broken.
Could be a wash line.I have found buttons in an area like that before.
Great finds......
