LUE MAP THEORY, MAYBE SOME CONTEXT

I have always thought that the arrow on the LUE map was a feature showing direction, but here is something else to consider.

900.jpg

The arrowhead has 8 barbs and a point, totaling 9 points on the arrowhead. Notice that the base and point of the arrowhead are bold lines. If you move the base toward the point, you will pass three levels before you connect to the point and create an equilateral triangle, made of bold lines.

I feel that the LUE map might have been created by a York Rite Mason. Cuzimloony has posted that he feels it could be Cryptic Degree of the York Rite. Von Mueller also used the word Cryptic in his caption under the LUE map, so von Mueller could have been giving a clue to any Mason.

Here is some information from the internet about the number 9 and the equilateral triangle.

Yes, the number 9 is considered very important to a York Rite Mason, particularly within the Cryptic degrees, as it symbolizes the completion of a cycle, perfection, and is represented in the "Elect of Nine" degree, which is the first of the three Cryptic degrees signifying a significant step in the Masonic journey.

Key points about the importance of 9 in York Rite Masonry:
  • "Elect of Nine" degree:
This is the first of the Cryptic degrees, directly referencing the number nine as a symbol of high importance.

  • Symbolic meaning:
In general, the number 9 signifies the end of a cycle and represents perfection, as it is the last single digit in the decimal system.

  • "Nine Arches":
In the Cryptic ritual, the journey through the "Nine Arches" is a significant symbolic element, representing the progression towards spiritual enlightenment.

Yes, the equilateral triangle is considered an important symbol in York Rite Masonry, particularly in the higher degrees, representing the divine trinity and often associated with the concept of perfection and deity; it is frequently used in rituals and symbolism within the York Rite system.

Key points about the equilateral triangle in York Rite Masonry:
    • Symbolic meaning:
The three equal sides of the equilateral triangle represent the three attributes of God: omnipotence, omnipresence, and omniscience.

    • Higher degrees:
While not prominently featured in the basic Masonic degrees, the equilateral triangle becomes more significant in the advanced degrees of the York Rite, like the Cryptic Mason.

    • Interpretation:
Depending on its orientation, the triangle can symbolize different aspects of the divine or the individual's spiritual journey.

Something else you might notice about the Lue overlay, there is a large horseshoe arch going from one side of the map to the other.

In Treasure of the Valley of Secrets, von Mueller mentions a Cave of Gold in southern Utah in the Monument Valley. I've never heard a cave of gold legend for that region.

Von Mueller seemed to be drawing attention to the part of Monument Valley that is in southern Utah. I was wondering if there was something of interest there.

Because of the location of the Sun, on the LUE map, south is at the top and west is to the right. That would make the small circle on the Constellation curve at the date of the winter solstice, about December 22. The feast day of St. John the Evangelist is December 27. One of the symbols of St. John is the eagle. In the Monument Valley of southern Utah, there is a mesa named Eagle Mesa and by the north end of the mesa is Eagle Spire, a rock formation that looks like a perched eagle. I don't know how long these landmarks have had their names, but if it's been for awhile, maybe von Mueller was giving a clue to the LUE map.

Also, I've been reading a book titled The Templar Meridians by William F. Mann, a high ranking Masonic Knight Templar from Canada. He writes about the wild rose and it's relationship to the number 5, an important number in Masonic lore, the wild rose has five petals. Although most wild roses are pink, there are a few red roses. In Christian symbolism, the red rose symbolizes the "blood of Christ" and the five petals represent the five wounds on Christ, as he suffered on the cross. On the LUE map there are five steps and, also, five parallel lines going east/west. Most of the LUE searchers have concentrated their efforts in the mountain range of southern Colorado and northern New Mexico, known as the Sangre de Cristo, the "blood of Christ". Maybe or maybe not a clue to the LUE map.

This is the orientation of the LUE map with the Sun in the south.

At the bottom of the Doric Column there are 3 horizontal lines, including the base. In the middle of the column there are 5 horizontal lines. At the top of the column there are 7 horizontal lines, including the top of the column. The numbers 3, 5 and 7 are important numbers in Masonry, In the 2nd Degree they are associated with the winding staircase go to the middle chamber of Solomon's Temple. There are 3 steps at the bottom of the staircase, 5 steps at the middle of the staircase and 7 steps at thr top of the staircase.

In esoteric symbolism, an upside-down pyramid often represents the feminine principle, associated with receptivity, the divine mother, and the womb, while the chalice symbolizes the sacred feminine energy, the ability to nurture and hold spiritual essence, often linked to the concept of the Holy Grail; together, they can signify the union of these forces, a merging of spiritual and earthly energies, sometimes interpreted as the divine feminine power itself.

Key aspects of the symbolism:
  • Inverted Pyramid as Feminine:
The pyramid, when upright, is often associated with masculine power, but when inverted, it symbolizes the downward flow of energy, representing the receptive, nurturing aspect of the feminine.

  • Chalice as Sacred Vessel:
The chalice represents a container for sacred knowledge, divine nectar, or the blood of Christ in Christian traditions, signifying the potential to hold and transmit spiritual power.

  • Union of Masculine and Feminine:
When combined, the upside-down pyramid and chalice can represent the balance and harmony between the masculine and feminine energies, a concept central to many spiritual traditions.

Further interpretations:
  • Mary Magdalene:
In some esoteric circles, the inverted pyramid and chalice are strongly linked to Mary Magdalene, considered a powerful feminine figure in Christianity.

  • Alchemical Symbolism:
The inverted pyramid can be seen as the alchemical vessel "philosopher's stone," representing the process of transformation and spiritual enlightenment.

  • The "Holy Grail":
The chalice can be interpreted as the "Holy Grail," a mythical cup said to possess healing and spiritual powers, symbolizing the quest for spiritual fulfillment.

black lake.webp

Here's Black Lake, New Mexico where a LUE recovery was reported. I used intersecting lines, headings and gaps from the LUE map, to get to the location. The vertical line starts to the north at Culebra Peak, Colorado, where there are three intersecting lines. The heading is 180 deg, found on the LUE map. Where the yellow and blue line intersect, I ran the LUE heading of 257 deg, with the gap between 2 and 4 miles. I don't know where the LUE cache was found, but, after looking at posts from other Tnet posters, I think it was within the yellow circle. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm just curious how you decided on 257 degrees? Did you try all the heading angles previously mentioned related to the LUE to see what came up or did you have additional information to arrive at the 257 degrees heading?

257 deg. is a LUE heading. Here's a picture from an earlier post.

four corners.webp

Following a suggestion from Tnet member Point hunter, I took a look at the Four Corners area, where the borders of Utah, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico meet. I decided to extend the Montvale, Virginia to Treasure Mountain line further west. The westward extension of that line intersects the Utah/Colorado border line, 13 miles above the Four Corners Monument. You might remember that there are 13 vertical lines in the Doric column, at the center of the LUE map. There are also four corners, at the center of the LUE map. Also, the further extension of that line went right to Eagle Mesa in the Monument Valley of southern Utah. This is an area mentioned by Carl von Mueller in his book Treasure of the Valley of Secrets. He writes of a Cave of Gold in the Monument Valley of southern Utah. Point hunter suggested that I run LUE headings, starting at the 13 mile point above the Four Corners Monument. The LUE heading of 103.5 deg. intersected a blue line, just above Black Lake, New Mexico, the alleged site of a LUE cache recovery. Also, the LUE map heading of 180 deg. from the starting point above the Four Corners Monument, passed just east of the Big LUE Ranch and on the Arizona/New Mexico border.

Here's the area around Black Lake, New Mexico, where a LUE cache was reported found.

The black line coming from the Four Corners starting point and a heading of 103.5 deg., intersects the blue line at Angel Fire. I used that as a starting point for the LUE heading of 180 deg, with the appropriate gap. The yellow line on the right is the 180 deg. LUE heading from the starting point of Celebra Peak, Colorado. It intersects the blue line just east of Black Lake. I ran the LUE heading of 257 deg. with the appropriate gap and you can see the results. Both gaps are right on each other and include the alleged recovery site, inside the yellow circle.

big lue ranch.webp

The green line, coming from the north, is the LUE heading of 180 deg. coming from the starting point 13 miles above the Four Corners Monument. That line passes 2.25 miles east of the site of the Big LUE Ranch. I don't know where the eastern boundary of the ranch is. The Big LUE Ranch was named by Eugene Johnson at some time between 1884 and 1906. The brand of the ranch was LUE. One of our Tnet members posted that information but I can't remember who. I think it was Puff the Tragic Wagon.

The line that starts at the ranch and goes northeast, passes directly over the Pioneer Urraca Cemetery. I think that's important because some people think that LUE is the first letters of LLORO URRACA ENTERRARI, Urraca is the name of the cemetery, Lloro means weep and Enterrari means buried, words that could describe activities at a cemetery.

I needed one more point to confirm that the Big LUE Ranch and the Pioneer Urraca Cemetery were a part of the LUE mapping. I found it further to the northeast at the Minnesota town of Waubun which is at the northern corner of the Apple Lake Triangle. Waubun is the Ojibwa word for "the East".

Research concerning the history of the Big Lue Ranch has exposed some discrepancies. One source gave the following information under the heading “Big Lue Canyon:”

“Eugene Johnson owned the ranch holding which he sold to Abe and Dick Boyles (c. 1906). Johnson was in the area at least by 1884. His brand was ‘LUE’ and the name of the ranch, The Big Lue Ranch, derived from this. The Boyles in turn sold the ranch in 1911 to Bud Stacey. ‘Stuttering Charlie’ Johnson settled in Johnson Canyon on the lower Blue River in 1886. He had been a Texas Ranger, and then a cattleman at Silver City, New Mexico. His first brand on the Blue was ‘333,’ but later he used the ‘LUE’ brand.

The 333 brand was interesting to me because 3 is an important number to the Masons. Cuzimloony suggested that the 333 might indicate an equilateral triangle, 3 by 3 by 3, just as 3 by 4 by 5 would indicate a right triangle. While looking for information, I found this link with a familiar shape at the bottom of the article. https://www.perkins.org/resource/adapted-3-variable-formula-triangle/

I haven't given it a close look to study the math, but maybe one of you mathematical experts can figure out how it might apply to the LUE map.

A three-variable formula triangle is a visual tool, often used in math and science, that helps students solve for a specific variable in a three-variable equation by covering the variable they want to isolate.

Here's how it works:
  • The Setup:
Draw a triangle with three variables (e.g., 'F', 'm', 'v') at the corners, and the formula connecting them (e.g., F = mv) in the middle.
    • Example: If you cover 'F', you'll see 'm' and 'v' are next to each other, indicating that F = mv. If you cover 'm', you'll see F/v, indicating m = F/v.
  • Common Use:
This method is particularly helpful for physics formulas like F=ma, where you can easily rearrange to solve for any of the variables (force, mass, or acceleration).

Example:

Let's say you have the formula: v = d/t (velocity = distance/time)

  1. Draw the triangle:

v
/ \
d t

  1. To solve for velocity (v): Cover 'v' with your finger. You see d/t, so v = d/t.

  2. To solve for distance (d): Cover 'd'. You see v * t, so d = v * t.

  3. To solve for time (t): Cover 't'. You see d/v, so t = d/v.

I guess you need three variables with a value for two of them.
Here's a cropped image of the equilateral triangle on the LUE map.

equilateral.webp

Using the information about the three-variable formula triangle, I set the triangle up to show the equation ab=c. The a and b are multiplied together so they are on the bottom of the triangle because the vertical line indicates multiplication. c is the solution of ab so it is inside the equilateral triangle at the top. In order to find the value of c, you have to know the values of a and b.

How this might apply to the LUE map is that the solution, c, is at the location of the equilateral triangle, inside an equilateral triangle.

If you remember from my recent post, Eugene Johnson, the owner of the Big LUE Ranch, used the brand 333 before he switched to the brand LUE. The 333 could be a representation of an equilateral triangle. 3+3+3=9. The number 9 is considered very important to a York Rite Mason, particularly within the Cryptic degrees, as it symbolizes the completion of a cycle.

The completion of a cycle could also be the solution to an equation that is shown as an equilateral triangle on the three-variable formula triangle.

Also, the equilateral triangle is considered an important symbol in York Rite Masonry, particularly in the higher degrees, representing the divine trinity and often associated with the concept of perfection and deity; it is frequently used in rituals and symbolism within the York Rite system

Could Eugene Johnson's brand, 333, be evidence that he knew the importance of those numbers and might have been a Mason?

I’m confused. Is ‘Stuttering Charlie’ Johnson the same person as Eugene Johnson?
