LUE MAP THEORY, MAYBE SOME CONTEXT

I have always thought that the arrow on the LUE map was a feature showing direction, but here is something else to consider.

The arrowhead has 8 barbs and a point, totaling 9 points on the arrowhead. Notice that the base and point of the arrowhead are bold lines. If you move the base toward the point, you will pass three levels before you connect to the point and create an equilateral triangle, made of bold lines.

I feel that the LUE map might have been created by a York Rite Mason. Cuzimloony has posted that he feels it could be Cryptic Degree of the York Rite. Von Mueller also used the word Cryptic in his caption under the LUE map, so von Mueller could have been giving a clue to any Mason.

Here is some information from the internet about the number 9 and the equilateral triangle.

Yes, the number 9 is considered very important to a York Rite Mason, particularly within the Cryptic degrees, as it symbolizes the completion of a cycle, perfection, and is represented in the "Elect of Nine" degree, which is the first of the three Cryptic degrees signifying a significant step in the Masonic journey.

Key points about the importance of 9 in York Rite Masonry:
  • "Elect of Nine" degree:
This is the first of the Cryptic degrees, directly referencing the number nine as a symbol of high importance.

  • Symbolic meaning:
In general, the number 9 signifies the end of a cycle and represents perfection, as it is the last single digit in the decimal system.

  • "Nine Arches":
In the Cryptic ritual, the journey through the "Nine Arches" is a significant symbolic element, representing the progression towards spiritual enlightenment.

Yes, the equilateral triangle is considered an important symbol in York Rite Masonry, particularly in the higher degrees, representing the divine trinity and often associated with the concept of perfection and deity; it is frequently used in rituals and symbolism within the York Rite system.

Key points about the equilateral triangle in York Rite Masonry:
    • Symbolic meaning:
The three equal sides of the equilateral triangle represent the three attributes of God: omnipotence, omnipresence, and omniscience.

    • Higher degrees:
While not prominently featured in the basic Masonic degrees, the equilateral triangle becomes more significant in the advanced degrees of the York Rite, like the Cryptic Mason.

    • Interpretation:
Depending on its orientation, the triangle can symbolize different aspects of the divine or the individual's spiritual journey.

Something else you might notice about the Lue overlay, there is a large horseshoe arch going from one side of the map to the other.

In Treasure of the Valley of Secrets, von Mueller mentions a Cave of Gold in southern Utah in the Monument Valley. I've never heard a cave of gold legend for that region.

Von Mueller seemed to be drawing attention to the part of Monument Valley that is in southern Utah. I was wondering if there was something of interest there.

Because of the location of the Sun, on the LUE map, south is at the top and west is to the right. That would make the small circle on the Constellation curve at the date of the winter solstice, about December 22. The feast day of St. John the Evangelist is December 27. One of the symbols of St. John is the eagle. In the Monument Valley of southern Utah, there is a mesa named Eagle Mesa and by the north end of the mesa is Eagle Spire, a rock formation that looks like a perched eagle. I don't know how long these landmarks have had their names, but if it's been for awhile, maybe von Mueller was giving a clue to the LUE map.

Also, I've been reading a book titled The Templar Meridians by William F. Mann, a high ranking Masonic Knight Templar from Canada. He writes about the wild rose and it's relationship to the number 5, an important number in Masonic lore, the wild rose has five petals. Although most wild roses are pink, there are a few red roses. In Christian symbolism, the red rose symbolizes the "blood of Christ" and the five petals represent the five wounds on Christ, as he suffered on the cross. On the LUE map there are five steps and, also, five parallel lines going east/west. Most of the LUE searchers have concentrated their efforts in the mountain range of southern Colorado and northern New Mexico, known as the Sangre de Cristo, the "blood of Christ". Maybe or maybe not a clue to the LUE map.

This is the orientation of the LUE map with the Sun in the south.

At the bottom of the Doric Column there are 3 horizontal lines, including the base. In the middle of the column there are 5 horizontal lines. At the top of the column there are 7 horizontal lines, including the top of the column. The numbers 3, 5 and 7 are important numbers in Masonry, In the 2nd Degree they are associated with the winding staircase go to the middle chamber of Solomon's Temple. There are 3 steps at the bottom of the staircase, 5 steps at the middle of the staircase and 7 steps at thr top of the staircase.

In esoteric symbolism, an upside-down pyramid often represents the feminine principle, associated with receptivity, the divine mother, and the womb, while the chalice symbolizes the sacred feminine energy, the ability to nurture and hold spiritual essence, often linked to the concept of the Holy Grail; together, they can signify the union of these forces, a merging of spiritual and earthly energies, sometimes interpreted as the divine feminine power itself.

Key aspects of the symbolism:
  • Inverted Pyramid as Feminine:
The pyramid, when upright, is often associated with masculine power, but when inverted, it symbolizes the downward flow of energy, representing the receptive, nurturing aspect of the feminine.

  • Chalice as Sacred Vessel:
The chalice represents a container for sacred knowledge, divine nectar, or the blood of Christ in Christian traditions, signifying the potential to hold and transmit spiritual power.

  • Union of Masculine and Feminine:
When combined, the upside-down pyramid and chalice can represent the balance and harmony between the masculine and feminine energies, a concept central to many spiritual traditions.

Further interpretations:
  • Mary Magdalene:
In some esoteric circles, the inverted pyramid and chalice are strongly linked to Mary Magdalene, considered a powerful feminine figure in Christianity.

  • Alchemical Symbolism:
The inverted pyramid can be seen as the alchemical vessel "philosopher's stone," representing the process of transformation and spiritual enlightenment.

  • The "Holy Grail":
The chalice can be interpreted as the "Holy Grail," a mythical cup said to possess healing and spiritual powers, symbolizing the quest for spiritual fulfillment.
