Hit the beach a bit before low tide today. Started at the "cave" and didn't find a whole lot BUT I did get some "cookie" coins that turned out to be pretty nice! All were in the same area, one of the places where they had ripped out then old wooden walls that have been there for a LONG time (preventing of longshore drift) and were actually up on the beach around mid-way between high/low tide lines. Rest of the beach was pretty sanded in and was VERY loose and sloppy around the low tide area. Water was a bit rough as well and difficult to move in.
Moved from there a little further west to the area where the barges and cranes have been (along with the grumpy foreman...ref previous posts..) and the area is still empty. When the bad weather was on the way they must have cleared out until the sea state improves. Didn't get much of anything good here but the hunt is 1/2 the fun!
In the end the cookies turned out to be a silver rosie (no date), a sliver merc (no date) and a 1917 Buffalo Nickel. Mint mark pretty much worn off but it looks like it MAY have been an "S" but it's pretty toasted too. All in all a good hunt.....found more beach glass than anything else (always do here). Thanks for looking!
This is the 2nd place I went to where the cranes and barges have been, till now....just past low tide but was still pretty rough out in the water....some big low spots with NOTHING in them!
