There is a company in germany that sells a 1 or 2 tank kit for most deisel engines. The only real modification to the engine is a higher output glow plug, or a warmer to heat the vegi oil in the colder temps.
With their 2 tank system, one tank is dedicated to deisel, the other to VO. A computer switches between the two at startup and shutdown (deisel is easier to start).
I looked into it last summer when I came across a great deal on a chevy suburban deisel. In doing the research, I found that most of Europe's deisel is something close to 70% vegitable oil, and 30% deisel, with some places having even more VO. I also remember finding a kit to build an electric pump and filter... Drive up to McDonald's, drop the hose into their "old grease" vat, the filter sucks up the oil, filters it, puts the good stuff in your tank, and the bad stuff back into the grease pit. Ya gotta love free fuel.
If you have a deisel, or can get your hands on one, Bio-deisel is definitely something to look into.
