Love Token

Found this love token along with a pocket knife and 2 bullets on a hillside. Soldier must have lost them out of his pocket when he sat down. Must have gotten up in a hurry. Was in Holly Springs, MS. Van Dorn scared him? I added the sterling chain and my wife wears it. Oh I posted this a while back, just took a new pic when wife had it out the other day. I bet a union soldier carried it?

I was wondering the same thing. I have never thought of holed coins as love tokens, the only ones I would consider love tokens are the folded ones or ones with some sort of inscription engraved. Still a nice coin find tho!

It's a love token from him to his wife.

They sure did use a big Nial? to punch that one .

Awesome find pretty sure a soldier lost it if found with the other items.
