New to the TreasureNet community! I recently began metal detecting with my brother in West Virginia coming across a old indistinguishable metal pieces, an id tag, pieces of copper, and a large pile of beer cans. Currently, I'm using my two hands and eyes to find surface materials in and around New Orleans, Louisiana. I've got a sweet spots along the Mississippi River that I enjoy visiting every few days. I recently found a fifty caliber bullet and a very old nail. I find that many parts of the Mississippi River act as a natural sifter for old relics, so I'm enjoying honing my surface spotting techniques. Maybe I'll come across something valuable enough to justify buying into a detector! Thanks for tuning in.

Thanks River Rat. I was thinking of how one could market small pieces of drift wood as jewelry production materials. I figure if you could setup an Etsy.com shop and sell the small pieces, might find a small niche waiting to be tapped.
