Lots of SUN, SILVER & some GOLD today.

Had a great day today. The sun was out & I had a little time to get out. Hit the river swim beach again. Found some clad, a fish weight & a nice .925 mens silver ring. Wind came up so I headed to the old middle school & ran across the new owner of the property. I've known him for a long time & he consented to my hunting my little heart out just anytime I want. Just asked if I would mark any sprinkler heads I found for him. Of course I said FINE WITH ME!

Got started & hit a silver 56 Rosie first thing. This school was built in the late thirties & I know there is silver there. Just have to slow down & search out DEEP targets. I'm always in a hurry & that is one reason I don't hit too many rings,,, until today. Found some clad ( $1.81 ) then a small .925 silver filigree womens silver ring, moved three feet & hit a 10K gold womens heart shape ring, stone missing. Then I got into the silver charm business in the play ground equipment area. Found a total of 4 silver charms, none of which appear to have ever been related to each other. Then it just gets better.

Had to walk across the old football field to get back to the truck. Hit a strange signal. Very solid at 8 inches but couldn't make up my mind just what it might be, so I dug it. Had a heck of a time finding it after I dug it up. Kept getting a signal but couldn't see anything special so I resorted to the pin pointer. It was hot to trot for what I thought was a slightly misshaped round fish weight about the size of two pencil erasers. I out it in my pouch & headed home. I was out for 4 hours total between both places.

Got home & examined the finds & low & behold, I think I found a small stony meteorite. It is very heavy for it's size, but only slightly magnetic. It is smooth & rounded like a split shot with a flat side & under a Glass, it has small pock marks & appears to have been very hot, but it is not dark colored. Anyway, it is most interesting. I don't think it is worth sending off for testing but I like it anyway. It was just the perfect end to a nice day for me. Spotz

Hey eathabs! All is not glory when the sun shines. It got up to 66 here today & I got out for about 4 hours. Dug a ton of old pop bottle caps by a 40 year old consession stand location, ( I know there is silver there somewhere), some clad & a 1940-D nickle. Went to another old school site & the crab grass was so tough I had to use a shovel. Hit 6 dimes, 2 nickels & 6 pennies, but my wrist was sore from a lot of tough digging the last two days & had to quit. Your snow will be gone soon & then you can go out & do yourself in digging junk too. Spotz

Howdy TL. Havent seen you on for a few nights. Didn't you say that you were moving? If so, how's it going. Spotz

Hi Spotz! I've been out a few times..need to make time to post what I've found...nothing really valuable I don't think. We still plan on moving..but seems it might be a while..too much to do to get property ready to sell..but we're slowing working on it. I am looking a lot on the web trying to find the right house/property/area to buy in Texas. We aren't rich so will take some doing to find what my hubby wants for the amount he wants to pay! Right now I've been busy grooming our dogs and taking them to the vet for rabies shots. Thanks for asking!

Spotz, after looking at the Pic of your Meteorite, I must ask. are you shure it's not a musketball ? this is probably a dumb question, but I figured I'd ask, as I do have a few with flat spots, however, I'm shure mine are lead.?

HI Jeff. I have been a black powder shooter so no, it's not a musket ball. Too small & it's stoney. There are some similar ones, I think they were called TECKTITE or something like that in the meteorit section. They were about the same size & configuration, but darker in color. This is about the size of a large split shot & twice as heavy. It's only slightly magnetic though & it has a stoney makeup look. It's interesting & I can't think of any other reason for it to be there in the middle of the old football field.

There are numerous other pix on the mereorite site, but they were not the same in appearance at all. The tecktite ones were the same size & shape, but they were listed as from China. Hmmm! I didn't have to dig quite that deep though. It was HOT & SOLID at 8". Spotz
