My Father had a few arrowheads he found on his farm when he was a teenager! When he went off to college, my grandmother threw them away in the creek, or got rid of them, or buried them, or sold them – all these rumors I have heard all my life and everybody thought they were long gone! I have looked for this rumored treasure for years. My Dad was disappointed at the time because his mother thought they were a useless box of rocks, but it was important to him! Not too long ago, late one night, while helping tear my grandparent’s house down, with a flashlight, an old Sinclair Wooden Cigar box surfaced in the rubble under the center of the house. The house sat very close to the ground with no room for a crawlspace…My curiosity opened the box and WOW….with a rat or squirrel’s nest built inside the box over the years, (8) arrowhead points surfaced!! Then it hit me – this is the rumored arrowhead collection of my Dads!!! I brought the box to my parents and asked did he recognize it? He didn’t. As he looked inside, the smile on his face was priceless! He was 21 last time he saw the arrowheads, now he is 73. Which goes to show a rumored treasure can be found!!!! a11 003.jpg a11 009.jpga11 008.jpga11 005.jpga11 012.jpga11 021.jpg

thank you for telling such a great story. those points are priceless. good for you and your father. have a happy thanksgiving. dave

While true a couple do look like repros sold in stores, it is impossible to tell from the picture if that is case here.

We will NOT go quitely into the night!

A smile from an appreciative person is worth way more than any monetary value of a treasure. I know it was your own blood but it was still an awesome thing to give them to him. Thanks for sharing this!

That's a cool story - glad you were there to find them for your Dad.

My Father found these points in the early 1950’s as a teenager. My “AUTHENTICITY” is the vintage Sinclair Cigar box found below the house (built 1940), and the hidden time capsule of over 50 years sitting below the house all this time, long before Ebay (founded 1985) ever existed. I’ve included a framed photo of the points today, the one in the center I found recently in the same private property family owned farm area my Father found many years ago. These points are made from a variety of material VERY native to this soil. I posted my story to share a POSITIVE statement, because I’ve heard many stories of lost sentimental family treasures that are never discovered, fortunately, mine was! The true TREASURE here was not the arrowheads themselves, but the priceless SMILE on my father’s face in knowing what really happened to his collection! There may be negative, lying, fake people who post made up stories to deceive others for their own personal gain, but NOT this South Georgia boy!! My story remains true with a happy ending! My father has kindly given this to me now!house 064.jpga11 007.jpgDSC09664.JPG

Very beautiful thread, I'm so happy for you, your father and family. Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

What a wonderful way to express your love for your Dad than to find this treasure and reunite your Dad with the treasures he found. A great Thanksgiving gift. I remember when we moved in the early 1960's, my older brother threw his baseball cards and comic books away because he got mad about something and I just wonder what it would be worth now? Beautiful points and I know nothing about artifacts, but admire them and the people who made them very much. Real treasure is not in money values, but in the heart. Happy Thanksgiving.
