I've been buying jewelry for the last few years. Lots of the items end up being sent to a refiner. The one I use sends all the loose gemstones back identified as diamonds, frost(cz), or color(everything else). I've got a small Ziploc bag of color & a briefke with a bunch of small to tiny diamonds in it. Anybody have some tips for how and/or where to sell this stuff?

Jewelers that do custom jewelry, they will not pay you much for them, but at least you can get rid of them. Usually look for the smaller run places that still do the proper repairs and customizing IN HOUSE. They will check each stone for their quality and offer you a price. I used to do this quite often when I would scrap damaged or lower end jewelry I cant remember what they paid, but it was not all that much. It was enough to justify selling them obviously.

OR you could try selling them in a lot on Ebay, for amateur jewelry artists. Not sure how the market is on that, but you would have to be absolutely sure of what you are selling. Genuine, cuts, quality, clarity etc.

For ebay, check seller MWIRE, he has a youtube channel called scrap gold expert. He may sell stuff like that. He has videos where he shows himself pulling stones out of scrap. HH

I sell all of my loose gems to a silver smith who grinds them into powder for some purpose.

Cheers - Koffee
