I’ve seen a lot of these dug in different collections just wanted to see what it really is. Is it for hanging a pot from the handle? I’ve seen some on back of knives too

We've got quite a few of them on various dog restraints. I've seen/heard them called c rings, d rings, v rings... There may be other letters/terms--IDK.

They're ubiquitous enough that IDK if a specific ID can be nailed down...
